Chester County Highway Safety Project CCHSP is a federal grant program funded through PennDOT

The Chester County Highway Safety Project (CCHSP) is housed within the Chester County Department of Emergency Services. Our main goal is to help reduce unnecessary injuries and fatalities on our roadways through educational programs, trainings and community events. CCHSP offers free programs to all schools, colleges, community groups, church groups, hospitals and businesses. We also have a resourc

e library full of information relating to car seat safety, pedestrian safety, school bus safety, motorcycle safety, bike safety, DUI, DUI-D, mature driver safety, to name a few. Additionally, CCHSP sets up law enforcement trainings, schedules all aggressive driving and occupant protection enforcement details with law enforcement agencies, conducts car seat checks each month and attends health and wellness fairs throughout the County.

Beginning June 5, 2026, drivers convicted of using a hand-held device while driving will pay a $50 fine, plus court costs and other fees. This includes when sitting at a red light or stop sign. We do not want to lose any more people to distracted driving. It is 100% preventable!

May is Bicycle Safety Month! We are grateful for another successful Bike Safety Rodeo.
This event was sponsored by Tredyffrin Police Department, Chester County Health Department, Paoli Hospital, and Safe Kids Chester County. Every child in need of a new helmet received one that fit perfectly. The Philly Phanatic would like to tell you something very important...don't let your summer be a swing and a miss! Wearing your seat belt on every trip is important to your daily health and safety! Thank you to regional law enforcement, AAA and The PA Traffic Injury Prevention Project for this critical reminder. Highway safety isn't a game-don't strike out because of poor decisions. Every time you get in your vehicle, you have a choice to make. Do it for your kids, do it for your spouse, do it for your grandchildren, do it for all of the friends who love you. Just do it.
