If not, go over the signs and signals used across the country for pedestrians to obey when crossing the street at a crosswalk or signalized intersection.

Remember, if a pedestrian crosses the street that is NOT at an intersection and there is NO crosswalk, the pedestrian MUST yield to vehicles.

According to , “Children usually aren't ready to start walking to school without an adult until about fifth grade, or around age 10.”
Before allowing your child to walk to and from school alone, safely practice their walking route with them, ensuring they are mentally and physically ready to take this big step!

October is SIDS Awareness Month. Safe Sleep is so important for the well being of babies!
This is what a safe sleep environment for baby looks like. The sleep surface is flat (like a table) and level (not angled or inclined), covered only by a fitted sheet. The sleep area is clear—no objects, toys, or other items. And the sleep space is in the same room where parents sleep, but separate from their bed.

October is Pedestrian Safety Month!

SKPA encourages parents and caregivers to take time and practice pedestrian safety with their children.
You can start by following these simple safety tips:
• Walk on sidewalks whenever they are available.
• Cross streets at crosswalks or intersections, where drivers expect pedestrians, and if there is a crossing guard on duty, follow their instructions.
• Look for cars in ALL directions before crossing the street, including those that might be turning left or right.
