Handi-Crafters

HCOC is one of the largest vocational training and support service providers in Southeastern, PA. The ADLC is a fully-supervised, licensed day program.

Our mission is to provide individuals with various disabilities vocational job training, community socialization, and the support they need to achieve their competitive employment goals. We achieve our goals due to active partnerships with local employers as well as manufacturing contracts with companies all over the world. We support and work alongside our participants who have special needs. We

serve individuals with various intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities, persons with mental health diagnoses, and veterans. We also have an Adult Daily Living Center (ADLC) for adults with disabilities or who have retired from the HC Opportunity Center. Activities are planned every day, and each participant can enhance their well-being and overall quality of life as they participate. Perfect for respite care during the day.

⭐️Competitive Employment Spotlight⭐️

Handi-Crafters is incredibly proud to recognize our program participant Cliff for his outstanding work at Giant!

Cliff has been competitively employed at Giant for the past few months and is thriving in his new role out in the community!

Cliff is a versatile worker who takes on many different jobs around the store. From carts, to register, to all the responsibilities in between, Cliff brings hard work and a positive attitude to everything he does!

“It’s such a pleasure having Cliff here,” expressed his manager Christine.

Our Handi-Crafters Employment Specialist Delaney Wnek has been working with Cliff for the past few months and is proud of the ways he has grown in this exciting role.

“Cliff is a rockstar,” said Wnek.

⭐️Community Participation Spotlight⭐️

Yesterday, our wonderful Community Participation Team had the opportunity to volunteer at Canine Partners for Life! 🦮

Seth, Jonathan, Emily, and CPS leader Denielle Rudolph spent a meaningful and special day giving back in the local community. Throughout the day, the team brought incredible commitment, dedication, and joy to each and every task.

Canine Partners for Life, based in Cochranville, PA, is a local nonprofit whose mission is to increase independence and quality of life for people with disabilities through professionally trained service and companion dogs.

Rooting for our home team and friends from West Chester Baseball tonight as they compete in the College World Series in Cary, NC! 💜⚾️

The team was selected as the top-seed and will face off against the University of Indianapolis at 6:00 PM. With a win tonight, West Chester will advance in the Winners Bracket to start the National Finals for the first time since 2017.

Our wonderful program participant Tim serves as the official bat manager and will be traveling down to North Carolina with the team!

This past March, West Chester Baseball visited Handi-Crafters and spent an extraordinary day of service and impact with us. We are grateful for everything they do to support our organization year after year.

We wish them the best of luck and will be cheering them on all the way! GO RAMS! 🤩

⭐️Handi-Crafters’ Got Talent 2026⭐️

On May 27, 2026, Handi-Crafters wrapped up our 2025-2026 After-Work Program with our Annual Talent Show!🎤 🎵

For the past nine months, our beloved After-Work Program has been a cherished addition to the workday here at Handi-Crafters. From bingo, karaoke, crafts, holiday fun, special visitors, dances, and more, our program participants built lasting friendships while enjoying a variety of meaningful activities.

Our After-Work program highlights our commitment to building stronger communities, and creating a safe and engaging space for our participants to connect and grow.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Program Specialist Kathy Miller for leading this terrific program, and to all our wonderful staff who dedicated their time to making Wednesday's special and memorable for each program participant.

We look forward to the return of the program in the fall! ❤️

⭐️Meet Kevin and Pat⭐️

Today, we are thrilled to recognize Kevin and Pat, two of our wonderful volunteers, for their dedication to Handi-Crafters.

Kevin and Pat began volunteering in our workshops after the pandemic to help fulfill production needs. Since then, they have dedicated their time to volunteering weekly and making a big impact on our organization.

Kevin and Pat enjoy building relationships with both program participants and workshop supervisors, and one of their favorite jobs is packaging chips for Herr’s! 📦

What makes their time volunteering at Handi-Crafters even more meaningful is the opportunity to work alongside their daughter Kathleen! ❤️

“I feel very fortunate that we are here, and that Handi-Crafters is here,” said Kevin.

⭐️ Recognizing Our April 2026 Employee of the Month. ⭐️

Today, we are proud to recognize David Paez, Production Manager at Handi-Crafters, for his outstanding teamwork, leadership, and consistently positive attitude. From the moment he engages with a project or event, David demonstrates a willingness to step in, support others, and help ensure success through collaboration and service.

Outside of his responsibilities as Production Manager, David takes initiative in coordinating and welcoming volunteer groups and ensures details are thoughtfully planned and executed. His attention to detail and proactive approach create positive experiences for both our team and our guests.

As Production Manager, David is a skilled facilitator who understands the impact of his actions, takes ownership of outcomes, and remains accountable while supporting those around him. He leads by example and consistently demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to excellence.

What stands out most about David is the way he embodies teamwork through a humble, servant-leadership mindset. He is exceptional with program participants, building strong relationships and creating welcoming experiences through patience, kindness, and respect. David shows up each day with a smile on his face and a “can-do, where can I help?” attitude that brings positive energy and encourages those around him.

His dedication, reliability, and commitment to the mission make him an invaluable member of the Handi-Crafters team and highly deserving of this recognition.
