CalAnimals-sponsored AB 1733 has passed! We would like to thank Assemblymember Alex Lee, the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), our state legislature, and Governor Gavin Newsom for passing AB 1733 to offer veterinarians more incentive to provide pro-bono spay/neuter services to animal shelters and rescue organizations through a pathway that allows them to earn up to 4 hours of CE. This bill also allows RVTs to earn up to two hours of CE credit for their pro-bono support in performing animal health tasks related to spay/neuter services. With a documented shortage of veterinarians in our state and bottlenecks of animals awaiting spay/neuter in our shelters, we are exploring every possible means of making the most of the veterinarians we have through multiple legislative efforts. We deeply appreciate everyone's support in making this important legislative change.
