Summer celebrations can be fun for families — but they can also be stressful and dangerous for pets. Barbecues, fireworks, guests, open doors, and increased outdoor activity create more opportunities for frightened or distracted dogs to escape. Taking a few simple precautions before holiday gatherings and summer events can greatly reduce the risk of a lost pet.

Great information!

Shy or timid dogs can panic in unfamiliar situations and may try to slip out of their equipment if startled. Using two leads—one attached to a martingale collar and one attached to a secure harness—adds an important layer of safety and backup protection. If one piece of equipment fails or slips off, you still have control of your dog. This simple precaution can help prevent escapes and keep your dog safe while building confidence on walks.

Migration Alert – April 23, 2026 🚨

This is part of spring migration, as birds return north from their winter homes to begin nesting and raising their young. 🌸

The BirdCast model predicts high-intensity bird migration over our region tonight, with millions of birds flying overhead as they return north for the spring. 🐦✨

Please help protect these migrating birds by turning off all non-essential lights between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Bright lights can disorient birds traveling at night, leading to dangerous and often fatal collisions.

• Turn off or dim exterior lighting
• Close curtains or blinds
• Avoid lighting areas that may attract birds

We are looking for fosters who will take 2 puppies when they are ready to leave momma (in approx. 4.5 weeks)! The puppies will remain in the foster home until adopted.

🐾foster must have a resident dog
🐾they are not left alone more than 4hrs in a day
