FREE Community Concert tickets!

Our friends over Pro Property Services are sponsoring 5 free concert tickets to the The Riverside Live at Misfit Mountain to support those that want to come but maybe just can't swing the cost this month! Feel free to comment here if you would like one or send us a message! It is next Monday October 19th at 6:30pm!

Pro Property Services is no stranger to the rescue! In 2023 when we rescued our senior girl Lucy after her owner suddenly died we were left without immediate housing for this senior girl and the cold was coming in hot! The team at Pro Property jumped right in and built her a cool little wooden clubhouse just for herself and donated their labor and supplies! Since then we have called on Pro Property whenever we have expanded our space---from the Hay Barn, to the Lean Too to cover our mowers, to our specialty Catio. There is nothing this team can't do and you can be sure it is always of good quality.

You know what we say---support the businesses that support the causes you love! Go give them a follow and remember them the next time you have a construction project, cleaning project, or cabin needing stained! Thanks PPS!

📢📢📢 HEY Y’All!

Our sign is back and we have some special shout outs to make!

First of all, thank you ALL for showing up and donating to get our sign replaced. When you are specifically targeted because of a rainbow flag or any kind of equality support it’s easy to back down, to let your voice be silenced, and to feel unwelcome in a place you’ve built your home. But you all made us feel welcomed, loved, and supported—-by your words, donations, and care. Your donations and sharing make an impact—-and an even greater impact when it also helps the animals.

After word traveled of our damages our follower Blake at http://goodecreativehome.com came by and offered to try and fix our sign for free- and he did just that!

(Your donations were still used to purchase Eufy Cameras to help secure our rescue and keep it safe for the animals and free from vandalism. The rest went to the animals of course. We are still awaiting an outcome from law enforcement but the truck license plate was identified and is being followed up on).

Now Back to the good in community. 💻

Blake took his time to repair the cracks, blend them, and make our sign good as new. He also was able to take our original sign (the tiny one) and repaint and stain it as it’s now a piece of our history!

Blake didn’t rush the process, asked for nothing, and showed back up at the rescue and hung it up for us while we weren’t looking! Sneaky guy!

You know what we say about businesses that support the rescue—-when it comes time to choose be sure to support the businesses who support the causes you love. In this case Blake showed that he cared about community, about fairness, about kindness, and about the animals.

Blake is a master craftsmen and he’s always welcoming work. From cabinets, to custom designs, to tiling, and more. His carpentry is an art and one that should be celebrated because he takes it and also uses it for good.

So if you need a project done- reach out to Blake and tell’em Misfit Mountain sent you. His website is linked here and his Facebook tagged.

Thanks Blake (and Shelly). 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

🐾 HURRICANE/STORM SAFETY: DON’T FORGET YOUR PETS! 🌀⛈️

As severe storms and hurricanes approach Western North Carolina, remember that our animals depend on us to keep them safe! ❤️

At Misfit Mountain we we want every pet owner to be prepared BEFORE disaster strikes.

🐕 BRING THEM INSIDE! Never leave pets outdoors, chained, or unattended during severe weather. (Make sure farm animals have shelter and excess food and water).

🎒 PACK AN EMERGENCY PET KIT! Have 7–14 days of food, water, medications, vaccination records, and necessary supplies ready.

🏷️ UPDATE THEIR ID! Make sure collars, tags, and microchip information are current in case your pet becomes lost.

🚗 IF YOU EVACUATE, TAKE YOUR PETS! Plan ahead for pet-friendly accommodations and safe transportation.

🌊 AVOID FLOODWATERS! Floodwater can contain dangerous debris, chemicals, bacteria, and strong currents.

🐾 KEEP PETS LEASHED AFTER THE STORM! Damaged fences, unfamiliar smells, and storm debris can cause animals to become frightened or lost.

🏡 CHECK ON YOUR NEIGHBORS! Elderly residents, individuals with limited transportation, and families with multiple animals may need help getting their pets to safety.

❤️ BE SOMEONE’S SAFE PLACE. If you’re able, consider helping a neighbor prepare, offering temporary foster care, or supporting local animal rescue efforts.

REMEMBER: A DISASTER PLAN ISN’T COMPLETE UNLESS IT INCLUDES YOUR ANIMALS.

Stay safe, Western North Carolina. Take care of one another, look out for your neighbors, and remember that every life matters—four legs or two. 🐾❤️

A big shout-out to our friends: Swan Swine Services, for coming out today to help our pig friends feel pampered!🥹💅

Our special boys: Jude & Wilbur, did so great for their tusk trims…..though Wilbur did decide to take a side quest after his trim lol!🏃‍♂️💨
Lovely Lucy & Ellie Mae had a touch up on their toes, (hooves) and are feeling good as new!👸

We always appreciate when Harley can schedule these rotations to come by and get everyone filed and trimmed down!🙌🤩
& fun fact, although Wilbur & Jude are neutered, their tusks do still grow…it’s very important to ensure tusks are trimmed down, as having them grow too long, can definitely cause major health and safety concerns!

If you’re signed up for a volunteer shift this week, be sure to tell the kiddos how beaaaautiful they look after their pamper sesh!
& if you’re looking to sign up, please utilize the link here:

Thank you Harley!
