2012-2013 Fresno Rugby Football Club
Fresno Rugby Football Club was founded in 1971 by several Fresno State students who wanted to learn about the game. Fresno Rugby has been playing competitive rugby since the early 1970s, and currently plays in the Men’s Division II of Northern California Rugby Football Union (NorCal). We are a part of USA Rugby. Fresno Rugby, NorCal, and USA Rugby are all gov
erned and adhere to the rules of the game set forth by the International Rugby Board (IRB). We compete in both 15s rugby and rugby 7s (which is the version of the game adopted for the Olympics). Fresno has rich traditions and successful history of competitive rugby. In 1997 Fresno finished 2nd in the nation in Rugby 7s. In 15s rugby, we have been to three National Final Fours (1999, 2001, and 2011). We seek to play competitive rugby, but to also establish the greater Fresno Area as hotbed for future rugby excellence. We’ve had several players go on to play for the USA Eagles (the National Team in 15s and 7s) and even more who’ve made various select sides (all-stars). Over the years we’ve had players come to play with us from such places as New Zealand, South Africa, Wales, England, Ireland, Japan, Tonga, and Australia to name a few. We are always looking to grow our club, and bring more people into the rugby community. Experience is not required. We have players come from all skills levels and backgrounds. Our ranks span four decades. If you are interested in playing contact us, or if just interested in watching, join us on game days. Fresno Rugby Football Club is a 501c3 Community Non-Profit.
