For the past 15 years, Roberto Alvarez has dedicated himself to full-time ministry, serving with unwavering commitment. Over the last five years, Roberto has been an invaluable member of our ministry, Provee, where he has taken on diverse and impactful roles. These include mentoring and tutoring students in our scholarship program, building relationships and sharing the Gospel with senior citizens in our community, utilizing his exceptional skills in designing and constructing houses, churches, and schools, and serving as a translator for mission teams to foster meaningful connections.Unfortunately, Roberto has faced significant challenges with his current vehicle over the past year. After a thorough inspection by a trusted mechanic, it was determined that the car requires a new transmission, with repair costs exceeding the vehicle's value. To address this, our ministry is launching a campaign to raise funds to provide Roberto with a reliable and safe vehicle.
Roberto's daily commute to our ministry offices is long and difficult, beginning at 4:00 AM with a 30-minute walk to the first bus stop, followed by a 30-minute bus ride. Depending on the day, he may wait up to 45 minutes for the second bus, which takes him up the mountain to another stop, followed by a final 30-minute walk to our offices. In total, his one-way commute can take 2 to 2.5 hours, resulting in 4 to 5 hours of daily travel. In addition to his work with Provee, Roberto and his wife faithfully attend two church services weekly and volunteer at their church.
By providing Roberto with a new vehicle, his round-trip commute will be reduced to approximately 2 hours, significantly easing his daily burden and enabling him to expand his service to both our ministry and his church community. This reliable transportation will also benefit his wife, enhancing their ability to serve together. Roberto is unaware of this fundraising effort, as God has placed it on our hearts to surprise him with this blessing. We trust that through the generosity of God’s people, we will raise the necessary funds to provide Roberto with a vehicle that reflects his faithful service.
