High Plains Humane Society "THE GREATNESS OF A SOCIETY AND ITS MORAL PROGRESS CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY ITS ANIMALS ARE TREATED." As part of the program, each pet is spayed or neutered.

High Plains Humane Society works in Curry County and the surrounding areas to reduce animal cruelty, exploitation and neglect. We advocate for sensible public policies that bring forth positive changes in our community, and we educate the general public on the importance of being responsible pet owners. We are constantly striving to make this world a better place for our furry friends, and we network with other organizations who share our beliefs. Sterilization is the key to solving the region's over-population and excessively high euthanasia numbers. To provide affordable spay/neuter options to low income community members, who could not otherwise afford this service, we partner with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and their staff to provide quality care for each pet. Additionally they are given important vaccinations to prevent illness and the spread of disease, and a microchip to assist in getting a pet back home if it ever becomes lost. To facilitate this we bring in low cost vet clinics, and low cost and free vaccine clinics. At our facility animals adopted from the Clovis Animal Shelter, and the community feral cat program are sterilized and vaccinated. We donate the use of the building and medical equipment for this use. We also maintain a pet food pantry to assist families in times of need to feed their pets through the crisis. We do not currently house animals.

🐾 VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP REQUEST 🐾

We are hoping to host one more spay-and-neuter clinic for our community before the end of the year, but we need your help!
We can’t bring the veterinary team to Clovis without enough volunteers to make the clinic possible. It takes a LOT of people to run a clinic this size, and we need our community!

Here are some examples of where we need help:
🐾 Set-Up Crew: Help move kennels and supplies from the High Plains Humane Society building to the Armory, as well as unload the veterinary team’s trailer.
🐾 Animal Check-In: Help get animals checked in and ready for surgery (drive-thru style).
🐾 Recovery Crew: We need some muscle to help move animals after surgery, as well as extra eyes to monitor them during recovery.
🐾 Cone Assembly: Help prepare cones for animals going home.
🐾 Check-Out: Help get animals checked out and safely reunite them with their owners.
🐾 Tear-Down Crew: The day after the clinic, we’ll need help loading the veterinary team’s supplies and getting our equipment and supplies back to the building.

We have full-day shifts and smaller time slots, and we will take any help we can get! Every volunteer makes a difference and helps us make this much-needed low-cost clinic possible. We are looking at dates the weekend before Thanksgiving in November.

If you haven’t already, please click the link below and fill out your information, and our volunteer coordinator will be in touch.

📣 Let’s rally, Clovis, and work together to bring this low-cost spay-and-neuter clinic back to our community! 💜

Incredible people and local businesses made our September spay & neuter clinic possible by stepping up to support our veterinary team and volunteers. They kept them fed and fueled through those long, busy days!

We fed 30+ people every day, and we are so grateful to the businesses who donated meals, drinks, and snacks:

☕ Breakfast: Starbucks coffee, Daylight Donuts, Foxy’s, Bill’s Jumbo Burger & McDonald’s
🥪 Lunch: Whataburger, Pizza Hut & Wienerschnitzel
🧋 Drinks: HTeaO with 15 gallons of tea!
🍪 Snacks: Albertsons gift cards, along with community member donations of water, drinks, chips, fancy cookies, and other goodies.

And the support went far beyond food! Community members donated puppy pads for our veterinary team, large metal kennels for the animals, and so many other supplies that helped make the clinic possible.

We also want to give a very special thank you to a community member who sponsored several surgeries for families who couldn't afford the cost. She stepped in and covered their animals' surgery expenses so they could receive the care they needed. That kind of generosity changes lives, and we are so grateful.

To every business, community member, donor, and volunteer who helped make this clinic happen, THANK YOU. Your support allows us to bring accessible veterinary care to families in our community who need it most.

And we're not done yet! Our next vaccine clinic is October 17–18, and we're working toward one more spay & neuter clinic before the end of the year.
Want to be involved? Sponsors, donors, and volunteers are always needed! Reach out to us to learn how you can help us continue providing these much-needed services to our community.

It takes a village, and we are so grateful for ours!
💜💜Go Team Go!💜💜

Don't miss this chance to protect and microchip your pets before the end of the year!
REQUIREMENTS:
• Puppies and kittens must be at least 6 weeks old for core vaccines and 12–16 weeks old for rabies vaccines.

For their well-being, DO NOT transport pets in a pickup truck bed or trailer in heat or extreme cold; they need to be in the vehicle with you.

Microchips are required by city ordinance! This is an affordable way to comply with the law while also giving your pet a much better chance of finding their way home if they are ever lost.
These vaccines are made possible through the generosity of Petco Love and Mile High Canine Rescue. High Plains Humane Society sponsors the clinics, and donations fund them entirely.
Please be patient with our veterinarian and volunteers! These clinics are extremely busy, so be prepared for a wait and plan accordingly. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to help as many pets as possible.
🐾 We can't wait to see you and your pets! Mark those calendars - October 17 & 18! 🐾

💜 THE NUMBERS ARE IN! 💜

The September 18–20 spay and neuter clinic was a HUGE success! 333 animals -188 Dogs and 145 Cats - were spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped during this 3-day clinic!

A special thank you to BISSELL Pet Foundation's Fix the Future, Mile High Canine, HPHS, the veterinary team, and the army of people who came together to bring this much needed event to Clovis.

💜 Thank you to Dr. Meany and her team of veterinarians, vet techs, and recovery staff for providing these services to our community. They traveled from as far away as Denver, Albuquerque, and Las Cruces, bringing a trailer full of supplies to make this clinic happen. They truly can set up a surgical suite anywhere! Thank you for your dedication and willingness to help the animals of Curry County.

💜 We have some of the most caring and hardworking volunteers! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving up your time and your weekend to make this clinic happen. Even while dealing with air conditioning issues, heavy lifting, nonstop scheduling, and 14-hour days, everyone was willing to work hard, never complained, and kept a smile on their faces from setup to cleanup. Thank you for your love and support for the animals and families of Clovis. We couldn't do it without you!

💜 Thank you to all of the pet owners who trusted us with your fur babies this weekend! We are so glad we could help protect them from preventable diseases and, most importantly, help prevent unwanted litters from ending up in shelters or searching for homes.

💜 And THANK YOU to our donors—both businesses and community members! We were so overwhelmed by your generosity that we need to make a separate post just to recognize you all! So keep an eye out for that. But please know that we truly could not do this without you.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

It was a long hot day, but clinic set up is done! We are ready to support Dr. Meany and her team Friday - Sunday for their community spay and neuter clinic. 🐱🐶🐾
We have the best volunteers! This crew really made it happen! And we couldn’t have done it without them! So appreciative!

🐾 OUR CLINICS ARE NEEDED - AND THEY DON’T HAPPEN WITHOUT YOU. 🐾
We work tirelessly to bring as many low-cost spay/neuter and free vaccine clinics to our area as possible, depending on veterinarian availability and the funds we can raise.
Each clinic costs thousands of dollars to hold and takes thousands of volunteer hours throughout the year to make possible. ❤️
And there’s more than the medical costs. Our volunteers and veterinary teams work long, exhausting days, so we also provide the supplies, food, drinks, and other necessities that keep everyone running, fed, hydrated, and happy.
What we can’t get donated, we have to purchase.
That’s where YOU can make a difference.
If you can donate any of the supplies we use for our clinics, every single item helps, and every donation truly matters. It allows us to put more of our limited funds toward the actual veterinary care and, ultimately, help more animals in our community. 🐶🐱
The next clinic is Sept 18-20, with 25+ staff and volunteers each day. All donations help.
Please message us to arrange drop-off or pick-up, or bring them by our building on Tuesdays between 9 and 1.
Thank you for helping us keep these clinics possible! ❤️

Hero’s came in all shapes and sizes that day, including our four legged ones. On 9/11, may we never forget.
