August 31 is recognized as International Overdose Awareness Day. Facts: In 2019, 600,000 deaths were attributed to drug use. Opioids have analgesic and sedative effects and are commonly used to manage pain. When mixed with alcohol the risk of overdosing increases exponentially.

On World Malaria Day 2022, various organization bring public awareness to this deadly disease. This year's theme is “Harness innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives." In 2020 out of an estimated 241 million cases of malaria, approximately 627,000 people died. Most of the deaths occurred amongst sub-Saharan African children. Due to new evidence suggesting the benefits of early colon cancer screening, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has recently recommended colorectal cancer screenings for people ages 45 to 49. Once upon a time, the primary options available for the colon prep included drinking large quantities of fluids. Today, healthcare professionals have more options to prepare patients for their colonoscopy, including taking pills(SUTAB) with liquid. With the advent of technology allowing us to “show off” our lives, it comes with the responsibility to keep all children of the world safe from the “negative” effects of prolonged use of social media and video games. Across the globe, we are witnessing higher rates of mental health disorders in our young.
The American Psychiatric Association reports that fifty percent of mental health disorders begin by 14, and three-quarters begin by age 24.
The CDC is very concerned with the number of adolescents suffering from mental health issues. They announced that 4 of 10 teens persistently “feel hopeless or sad,” and 20 percent of teens have contemplated su***de.
