ReStore in Fresno,California is a non-profit retail outlet owned and operated by Habitat for Humanity Fresno County. We offer the local community a unique retailing experience with an ever-changing inventory of new and gently used building materials, sold at discount prices. The proceeds from ReStore fund the construction of new Habitat homes, fulfilling our mission of providing decent, affordable

housing to qualifying families in Fresno County. ReStore is expected to generate enough funds to build three additional Habitat homes each year. In addition, by accepting donated materials from businesses and individuals, ReStore diverts a large amount of reusable materials from local landfills. So, whether you’re a contractor with a surplus of 2 x 4s, or a budget-conscious, do-it-yourself warrior fixing up your home, stop by ReStore first!

Today I want to spotlight someone truly extraordinary. Meet the incredible Captain of the USNS Dahl, Deatra Thompson — a powerhouse at sea and an artist on land.

In the little spare time, she has when she’s not sailing as Captain and Master of the USNS Dahl, she rescues discarded pieces of furniture and transforms them into stunning, jaw-dropping works of art.

She finds furniture that’s been thrown out…
Pieces left behind…
Things others have given up on…
What others see as “trash,” she sees as potential.

With her vision and craftsmanship, she brings them back to life — then donates them to the ReStore to support affordable housing in our community.

Here’s to celebrating talent in all its forms — both at sea and at home. 🌊✨
