When Christopher Gabriel, host of one of Fresno’s top morning radio shows, started experiencing sharp knee pain, he knew it was time to see Dr. Peter Simonian here at Clovis Community Medical Center. The diagnosis: a torn meniscus that would need surgery.

Like many patients, Christopher felt some nerves heading into his procedure, until he met his care team. Two nurses in particular, Augustine and Teresita, who happen to be twin sisters, made all the difference. Their warmth and attentiveness helped him feel comfortable and confident every step of the way.

Six months later, Christopher was back at Clovis Community for surgery on his other knee. This time, familiar faces made the experience feel like a reunion rather than a repeat.

Today, Christopher is back on air every morning with zero knee pain, and he even gave his care team a special shoutout live on his show.

We’re so grateful to have team members like Augustine and Teresita, who turn every patient’s experience into one of comfort, care and confidence. 🫶👏

A big win for our Environmental Services team. 👏

Through teamwork and a new approach, our EVS team here at the hospital cut the time it takes to clean and prepare a hospital room by nearly in half. That means rooms are ready sooner, helping our care teams keep things moving for the patients who need them.

A hug one of our emergency department nurses will always remember.

When Alison arrived at our emergency room at 37 weeks pregnant with severe chest pain, Ashley was the first nurse to see her. In those critical early moments, Ashley trusted her instincts and quickly alerted care teams, which helped set in motion the lifesaving response that cared for both Alison and her baby, Emery.

What followed was one of the most critical days of their lives.

And this week, Alison and baby Emery returned to Clovis Community to thank nurse Ashley whose quick thinking and expertise helped turn a frightening emergency into a story of hope, resilience and two lives saved.

Thank you, Ashley, for the difference you make for patients and families every day.

We’re proud to share that we have been recertified as a Primary Stroke Center, building on the distinction first earned in February 2024. This achievement reflects the dedication and collaboration of the many physicians, nurses, therapists and support teams who work together every day to provide timely, lifesaving stroke care to our community.

At 37 weeks pregnant, Alison arrived at our Emergency Department with severe chest pain and was quickly diagnosed with a life-threatening aortic dissection requiring immediate, complex care.

In moments like this, no single team can respond alone.

From the Emergency Room to Obstetrics, Cardiac Services led by Dr. Shamsuddin Khwaja, Anesthesia, Critical Care, Nursing, Women & Infant Services and many more, multiple teams across our hospital came together with one shared goal: care for both mom and baby without delay.

Baby Emery was delivered safely by OB/GYN Dr. Stewart Mason, healthy and perfect.

Alison was then urgently taken for complex cardiac surgery, where our team worked to repair her aorta and guide her through a critical, hours-long procedure and recovery.

This is the level of care provided here. Highly specialized teams working side by side, bringing expertise, coordination and urgency together when every second matters.

Today, Alison and Emery are both home and thriving.

A powerful reminder of what’s possible here in our community when many teams come together to deliver advanced, coordinated care for the patients and families who trust us with their most critical moments. ❤️
