A Young Heart Chooses Jesus
Pathfinder Baptized During Area 5 Convocation

During the Area 5 Hispanic Convocation held on February 14, a special and meaningful moment took place as Pathfinder Luke Couoh from the Alpha & Omega Bakersfield Hispanic Club publicly gave his heart to Jesus through baptism.
Currently in his second year as a Pathfinder, Luke began his journey in the Friend class and is now part of the Companion class. Like many Pathfinders, one of his favorite parts of the club has simply been spending time with friends at the church, building friendships, and growing together in faith.

Over the past few years, watching friends and other church members get baptized sparked Luke’s curiosity about what baptism meant. That curiosity led him to begin asking questions and learning more about what it means to follow Jesus.

A meaningful moment came while he was helping set up for the 2026 Area 5 Hispanic Convocation. As preparations were underway, Luke noticed the baptismal pool being filled. In that moment, he made a decision. When asked why he wanted to be baptized, his answer was simple and sincere:

“I want to give my heart to Jesus.”

Luke’s Pathfinder club and its leaders have intentionally supported the spiritual growth of their members through the Personal Growth section of the Pathfinder Journal. As a club, they emphasize the importance of building a personal relationship with God through daily Bible reading and reflection. Leaders remind Pathfinders that the goal is not simply to complete a requirement, but to develop a lifelong habit of seeking God each day.

Surrounded by his parents, younger sister, extended family, club members, church family, and even non-Christian friends, Luke was baptized by Pastor Javier Yépez in a beautiful moment of commitment and celebration.

When asked what baptism means to him, Luke’s answer reflects the heart of his decision: giving his life to Jesus.

His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:4, which reminds us:
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”

Moments like these remind us that Pathfinder ministry is about more than activities and honors; it is about guiding young people into a personal relationship with Jesus and helping them take steps of faith that will shape their lives forever. We celebrate Luke’s decision and joyfully welcome him into the family of God, praying that his journey with Christ will continue to grow strong for many years to come.

The Central California Conference Junior Youth Department celebrates this beautiful decision of faith.

Conference-Level PBE
Rooted in the Word, Growing in Faith

On February 21, 2026, the San Jose Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church graciously hosted the Central California Conference Pathfinder Bible Experience (PBE). Twenty-one Pathfinder clubs from across our conference gathered for a day centered on Scripture, fellowship, and spiritual growth.

This year, Pathfinders studied Isaiah chapters 1–33 along with the Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary. For months, these young people dedicated themselves to memorizing passages, studying prophetic themes, understanding historical context, praying together, and supporting one another. The discipline and unity they demonstrated reflected their deep commitment to God’s Word.

Pathfinder Bible Experience is far more than a Bible competition; it is a discipleship journey. Through intentional study and teamwork, Pathfinders learn to hide God’s Word in their hearts. As Psalm 119:11 reminds us, “I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.” The Scripture they commit to memory today will guide their decisions, anchor their faith, and shape their leadership for years to come.

At the conclusion of the testing, five teams received first-place honors. They will advance to the Union-Level Pathfinder Bible Experience on March 14 at La Sierra Academy in Riverside, California. We proudly recognize the following advancing teams:

• Armona Jaguars
• Central Valley Golden Eagles Faith Followers
• Central Valley Golden Eagles Zion’s Remnant Warriors
• Kings Crusaders
• Milpitas Messengers Team 1

While advancement is celebrated, the true victory is found in the transformation taking place in the hearts of our young people. Hours of study are planting seeds of faith that will continue to grow long after the event concludes.

We extend our gratitude to the San Jose Spanish SDA Church for hosting, to every director and coach who faithfully mentored their teams, and to every Pathfinder who embraced the challenge of studying God’s Word.

Pathfinder ministry continues to be one of the most beautiful and impactful ministries in our conference, building faith, character, discipline, and a lifelong love for Scripture.

This past weekend, something remarkable happened as 150 exceptional leaders from CCC came together for our Pathfinder Leadership Training after a long-awaited pause since 2019.

Our hearts were full as we welcomed Pastor Armando Miranda, the Assistant Director of NAD Youth & Young Adult Ministries, as our keynote speaker. He ignited leadership and inspiration for our leaders, but especially our TLTs.

We were also graced with the presence of Pastor Randy Hill, the PUC Youth Director.

Reflecting on this weekend, we're reminded of the strength in unity, the power of shared vision, and the unwavering commitment of each leader present.

Let's continue inspiring, uplifting, and empowering one another as we move forward. Together, we are unstoppable in reaching our children for the kingdom.

Welcome to the CCC Youth Ministries Department page! We are a dedicated team committed to fostering spiritual growth and nurturing the faith of children and youth. Our department oversees various ministries and programs, including Adventurers, Pathfinders, Master Guides, and Day Camps. Our primary goal is to equip and empower local church leaders, providing them with training opportunities to effectively connect children and youth with Jesus Christ.

The Adventurers program is designed to provide a safe and engaging environment for children aged 4 to 9. Through a range of age-appropriate activities, we aim to help children develop a personal relationship with Jesus and build character traits that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Pathfinders is a ministry focused on youth aged 10 to 15. We provide a platform for young people to grow spiritually, develop leadership skills, and engage in community service. Through exciting activities, camping, and adventurous expeditions, we strive to create an atmosphere where young people can experience the love of Christ and form lifelong friendships.

For older youth aged 16 and above, our department offers the Teen Leadership Training (TLT) program. This program equips teenagers with the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective leaders within their communities and local churches. TLTs have the opportunity to serve as mentors and role models for younger children and youth.

Master Guides is another essential component of our department. This program is designed for young adults who desire to deepen their faith, enhance their leadership abilities, and impact the lives of others. Master Guides receive comprehensive training, equipping them to serve as leaders within our youth ministries and make a positive difference in the world.

Finally, our department organizes Day Camps, which provide exciting and educational experiences for children and youth during school breaks. These camps offer a unique blend of fun activities, character development, and spiritual growth, all aimed at nurturing a strong connection with Jesus Christ.

We are passionate about what we do, and we are here to support and collaborate with local church leaders in their mission to guide children and youth on their spiritual journey. Join us on this incredible adventure as we help young hearts connect with Jesus and experience His love in profound ways!
