Registration is now open for the 17th annual Asti Tour de Vine Bike Ride Saturday, October 11, 2025, through the beautiful fall colors of Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys in Northern Sonoma County. There are rides for all! Select the 25k, 50k, 100k or grueling 100 mile Rockpile Rumble. Rest Stops feature snacks prepared by local organizations like the Garden Club and Education Foundations. Lisa Diaz-McQuaid, Lead Human Trafficking Caseworker at Verity told a harrowing story of family abuse from age seven through human trafficking in her teens and addiction to drugs and alcohol. Offered a modeling job in Oakland, she believed the couple who enticed her from the streets of Sonoma County and then sold her to slavery and trafficked her to New York and New Jersey. The first six years were spent in a loving home with her grandparents in Cloverdale before her addicted mother gained custody and things went down hill for the next 30-plus years. An encounter with the Sonoma County Sherriff and a course in Human Services at SRJC coupled with stays at Athena House helped her on the road to recovery and helping women (and men) who have been human trafficked. She founded Redemption House of the Bay Area in 2018 and was named a “Woman of the Year” by Cong. Mike Thompson n 2022.

The Cloverdale Rotary Club recently heard from two terrific local businesswomen. Carla Lua runs Vine Ridge Senior Living and Jade Weymouth is at the helm of La Familia Sana.

Vine Ridge is home to more than 30 residents. Carla Lua strives to have them play an active part in participating in community events.

La Familia Sana serves the entire community, 60% Latin and 40% Anglo. The organization serves as a guide to services ranging from housing to food to healthcare.

Cloverdale Fire Chief Jason Jenkins brought us up to date on fire safety initiatives for the Cloverdale Area. The department has 2,000 calls a year; does year round training, participates in removing fuels in forested areas and buildingg fire breaks in a vast area from the Geysers to Lake Sonoma. At least three professionals are in duty at all times. Thank you, Chief Jenkins. Cloverdale Rotary has been serving the area for 99 years. A few memberships are available.
