Today, we proudly celebrate the 80th Anniversary of receiving our IAFF charter, marking 80 years as a proud member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).

Our story began in 1888, when the Cloquet Village Council established Cloquet Fire Company No. 1. In 1946, our firefighters took a historic step by joining the International Association of Fire Fighters, becoming IAFF Cloquet Firefighters Local 880.

For the past 80 years, Local 880 has proudly represented the firefighters who answer the call day and night, standing together in brotherhood, sisterhood, advocating for one another, and serving the Cloquet and area community with honor.

As we celebrate this milestone, we remember those who came before us, honor those who serve today, and look forward to the generations who will carry our legacy into the future.

Today, Local 880 Firefighter/Paramedics Azzam, Mayer, Brzeskiewicz, Nynas, and firefighters from coast to coast had the honor of attending the funeral service for our Brother, Firefighter Jungbluth, who tragically passed away following a Line of Duty Death.

From Eau Claire Fire and Rescue: Bryce served the Eau Claire Fire Department and Carrboro Fire-Rescue with passion, dedication, courage, and honor. He cared deeply about the fire service and approached every shift with a willingness to learn, serve others, and support his fellow firefighters. His commitment to this profession and to the community he served will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with Firefighter Jungbluth’s family, friends, fellow brother/sister firefighters, and department members during this difficult time. We are honored to stand alongside our brothers and sisters in the fire service as we remember and pay tribute to a firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Please read the following communication from Eau Claire Fire Department regarding the transfer of their fallen Brother Bryce Jungbluth back home to Wisconsin. If you are able, please consider staging along the route to show your support.

The Eau Claire Fire Department respectfully advises public safety agencies of the upcoming es**rt for an Eau Claire firefighter, who died in the line of duty.

Following the release from LifeSource in Minneapolis, MN, the firefighter will be es**rted by the Eau Claire Fire Department to Eau Claire, WI, for a procession, followed by the continued es**rt to Hayward, WI.

Saturday, August 1
The anticipated route of travel is:
• Departure from Lifesource: 222 N West River Rd.
• W Broadway Ave.
• I-94 East
• Exit 59 to Hwy 12/312
• ECFD procession from CVTC ESEC, traveling Clairemont to Hastings, concluding at Melby St.
• Melby St east to Highway 53N.
• County Highway B
• Highway 70
• N State Road 27
• W County Road B
• Arrival at Bratley-Nelson Funeral Homes & Crematory - Hayward Funeral Home

The es**rt is currently anticipated to begin at 11:00 from Lifesource.

Public safety agencies along the route are invited to participate in honoring our fallen firefighter. Agencies wishing to do so may consider staging personnel and apparatus along the route, lining overpasses, displaying flags, or participating in a manner consistent with local department policies and operational needs.

The Eau Claire Fire Department extends its sincere appreciation for the support shown to our firefighter's family and all those affected by this tragic loss.

A shift responded to a vehicle fire on an ATV trail this morning. Through rapid assessment and coordinated tactics, crews quickly brought this vehicle fire under control before it could extend into the surrounding vegetation.

A quote from a community member:

“Things could have been worse. Thanks to the quick and professional response from the fire district, using minimal water to extinguish the fire, there was minimal damage”

The sound of fireworks in Cloquet continued long into the night on the Fourth of July, and so did the sirens. Firefighters responded to three fire-related emergencies Saturday night and discovered "remnants of fireworks" at all three, according to CAFD assistant fire chief Corey Larson. No injuries....

Today, firefighter/paramedics Kriske, Azzam, and Munoz spent the day training our new local 880 member firefighter/emt Cabal and a new POC member.

Our experienced instructors guide every step of the process, while our newest firefighters put their training into action.

(A quick note about today's training photos: Our instructor firefighters were not in full PPE because they were demonstrating and teaching skills throughout the evolution. Our new hires were the ones completing the hands-on scenarios in full PPE as part of their training.)

Tonight after the fireworks, C shift and off duty A and B shift members responded to a structure fire and two separate vehicle fires all within an hour and a half timeframe.

Here is a comment we saw on a social media post from a community member regarding one of the vehicle fires:

“Thank god the firefighters and police got there as fast as they did. Otherwise the house would have went up in flames.”
