Some missions are accomplished through service. Others are accomplished through community.

Tomorrow, veterans, families, and supporters from across the region will gather at Dixon Range for the Memorial Day Multi-Weapon Tournament—a day built on camaraderie, connection, and honoring those who served and sacrificed.

Before a single round is fired, we want to recognize the businesses, organizations, and individuals who answered the call and helped make this event possible. Their support allows Rally Point Appalachia to continue providing free peer support, resources, and opportunities for veterans, service members, and military families throughout Southwest Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, and Northeast Tennessee.

🇺🇲🇺🇲Update as of 7 PM.
I am so thankful for each person who reached out and has helped. I think we have everything but his belt for his coat and his medals.
I have two older army veterans who have previously asked for help getting replacement dress uniforms as well and I have failed to do so. If anyone has any part of any branches uniform they they would like to donate, please let me know! I would love to have these things on hand for occasions such as this. I work as the Veteran and military services coordinator at Dickenson County Behavioral Health. If you would like to donate extra things you have, please message me! I will store these items for the future!!

We have a Vietnam Era Veteran who served in Japan. He lost his Marine Dress Blues in a fire. He is 89 and had to be picked up by EMS today. He is not in good health and wants to be buried in his uniform. We have a jacket. We need pants, cover gloves and belt!

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Memorial Day should humble us.

Because somewhere this weekend…

…a mother is tracing the name on a headstone with trembling fingers while the rest of the country shops for hamburger buns and sparklers.

…a wife still reaches across an empty side of the bed.

…a father remembers the sound of his son’s laughter and the day he watched him leave in uniform for the last time.

…children are growing up on stories, photographs, folded flags, and memories shared by others because their hero never made it home.

…an old veteran sits quietly, remembering names the world has long forgotten but they never will.

And somewhere in Heaven are heroes who never got to grow old.

Young men forever frozen at nineteen.
Twenty-one.
Twenty-four.

Young women who never got the chance to grow old, raise families, chase dreams, or sit on porches watching grandchildren play.

And yet, when their country called, they went.

They served.
They sacrificed.
They gave up every ordinary moment most of us barely stop to notice anymore.

They laid down every future version of themselves.

They gave all of it away…

For us.

That is the weight of Memorial Day.

Freedom did not appear out of nowhere.

It was carried here on the backs of ordinary Americans who chose extraordinary sacrifice.

Freedom is not accidental.

It was built on courage.
On sacrifice.
On folded flags handed to grieving families.
On mothers who still pause at old photographs a little too long.
On spouses who learned how to keep living with pieces of their hearts missing.

Freedom looks ordinary now because somebody fought to protect it.

At Rally Point Appalachia, we remember them all.

We remember the Gold Star mothers who still whisper their child’s name through tears decades later.

We remember the spouses who learned how to keep going after the knock at the door changed everything.

We remember the brothers and sisters in arms who still carry memories most people will never fully understand.

And we remember those who never got the chance to come home and live the life they fought to protect.

Sacrifice should never become background noise in a comfortable country, because freedom has always cost somebody something.

May we never become so comfortable in freedom that we forget how much it truly cost. ❤️🇺🇲

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our Rally Point Appalachia Fishing Tournament such a success!

We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Mountain View Marina and all 13 boats that came out to support our mission. The boat ramp was packed and busy for nearly an hour and a half before the tournament even started!

We enjoyed meeting new supporters and catching up with those already familiar with our mission. Events like this are about far more than fishing — they’re about community, camaraderie, and supporting our nation’s heroes.

After a long night on the water and some great competition, let’s give a well-earned congratulations to our tournament winners! 👏🎣
