Reunion dinners are the best! How does this NOT make you smile? Hard to believe these guys are SENIORS!? We were sad to be missing a few Wise Guys for our dinner tonight, but life is busy for high schoolers. So proud of the awesome young adults these guys have turned into. Going to definitely miss them as they head off in many different directions next year. Can’t wait to hear all about the journey they each get to go on though! Glad we (Wise Guys) got to be a small part of that journey. Go out there and change the world guys. You got this! 🙂

It was a Wise Guys Reunion Dinner last night. These are always a lot of fun and a great way to bring the guys back together and reminisce a little bit. These guys grew up together through their middle school years and through the Wise Guys Program. We tell them they have a special bond by completing this “Mentor Year” together. So they are kind of connected…for life. Lol. We got to hear them share about what’s happening in life and what they plan to be when they grow up. There were many smiles and laughs…and they kept their phones in their pockets (for the most part). We stopped for an ice cream treat afterwards (cause there is always room for ice cream) and finished with a group picture. Yes, the “serious” pose was on purpose. We were unfortunately missing two of our guys tonight. Hopefully they can make it to the next reunion. Thanks for coming out and making your coach’s day by showing up. It sure was a fun night! 🙂

It’s Wise Guy Mentor Day today! Today is the day that our 8th Grade Wise Guys head the the elementary school to spend the day with a group of students, while also giving back to the teachers around them. Before we start that day though…a very special Wise Guy breakfast! Thanks Steve and Mary's Main Street Cafe! The food was delicious! Thanks for having us in today so we could get some breakfast to fuel our day. Clintonville Elementary School - here we come! 🙂

Today our Wise Guy group was small. That’s what happens when it is “Picture Day” for Spring sports here at the middle school. But small is OK! We still had a lot of fun! A special shout out to the girls high school basketball players and coaches. They were awesome! They came in today and had a great time with our Wise Guys. They did some dribbling practice and some shooting drills. They played many fun games AND they even had a short scrimmage against each other. These Wise Guys and the girls basketball team did not let up! They gave it their all! There were many smiles, laughs, and they all definitely “passed the sweat test” as Ms. Petermann would always say. Great job today Wise Guys! Thanks again Coach Yaeger and Coach Retzlaff, along with Bree, Zoey, and Brooklyn. We appreciate you all! 🙂

Today we did something new. We brought both of our 7th Grade groups together (the Wise Guys and the Fearless Females) for an activity. With spring sports in full swing, we knew that we would be low on numbers this week. So we put our groups together to meet with Mr. Owen and our special guests.

Today was all about auto-racing! Our special guests brought their race cars to our school and took the time to really share their love of racing with our kiddos. Mr. Owen started off talking about the awesome impact that racing has had on his life. He shared some cool videos and then introduced his fantastic guests with us. We met Jordan Bartz and her dad Craig(where she shared a lot about what a driver wears and how it feels to be in the driver’s seat). We met with Tucker and Tanner Pari (past CMS students who shared their knowledge on a dirt track and some of the dangers of roll overs). And we met with Jim Wisz (who talked about the important parts inside the engine and shared his knowledge of how the parts are made and help to make the engine run).

Afterwards, everyone went outside where the students got the opportunity to see the race cars up close and got an in-depth look under the hood. All the Wise Guys and Fearless Females had the opportunity to climb into and out of any of the cars as well…but only a few of them took on this opportunity. We think they might have been a little intimidated by the lack of a door handle to get in and out of the vehicle. 🙂

A huge thank you to all our AWESOME guests tonight (Jordan, Craig, Tucker, Tanner, and Jim)! Another big THANK YOU to Mr. Owen for setting this all up for us as well! You all rock! Great job today everyone. 🙂

Took this group of Wise Guys to visit Walker Forge in town. Walker Forge has always been a proud supporter of our program over the years. In fact, today Rick informed us that Wise Guys has been visiting for 11 years now. That’s crazy! There has also been almost two dozen Wise Guys that have been employed at Walker Forge over the years and that number will continue to grow! A big THANK YOU to Rick for guiding us around the facilities today. Your knowledge and story-telling always keeps the guys so entertained throughout the tour. There is so much to learn and share and we are thankful that Walker Forge chooses to share with the Wise Guys! Thanks Walker Forge, Inc. and great job Wise Guys! 🙂

Brought this group of Wise Guys to a Milwaukee Wave game tonight. A fun game to watch as usual. Unfortunately, the Wave lost 3-2. A great group of guys who did a great job of representing Clintonville and the Wise Guys Program. Way to go Wise Guys! 🙂

A special shout out to the Varsity Baseball Team for taking the time to meet with our Wise Guys today! Our guys got to work on batting, catching pop flys, pitching, and even trying to catch the runner stealing second! At the end of practice, our guys joined the players for a quick game of t-ball. An extra shout out to these high school players. They did a fantastic job of relating to our Wise Guys and making each one of them feel successful today. It was pretty great to see! What a great group of players they have here (and yes, it helps that some of them are past Wise Guys themselves). Play ball! 🙂

Took this group of Wise Guys to a Milwaukee Admirals game tonight. For many of them, it was a their first hockey game. The Admirals had a great WIN and there were plenty of smiles and dance moves coming from the Wise Guys in the crowd (a few even made it on the JUMBO-TRON!). Everyone really seemed to have a great time. Awesome job tonight Wise Guys!

Today our Wise Guys got a visit from some members of our high school volleyball team. Coach Stacey and Coach Larry visited us today to talk with the guys about the basics of the sport of volleyball. Most of our Wise Guys had not played the game before, so there was a lot of learning today. The coaches went over the basics of bumping, setting, and serving. Our guys learned the importance of straight arms, strong legs, and how to put some power into the serve. Towards the end of the day, they played the game “Dead Fish” and the game “Volleyball Four Square” - there were plenty of smiles and laughs all around! A huge THANK YOU to Coach Stacey and Coach Larry for sharing your knowledge and your love of volleyball with our guys. A special thank you to high schooler Ariana for setting the example and helping out the guys today! You rock! It was definitely a fun day. Awesome job today Wise Guys! 🙂

An awesome night at the Wisconsin Herd game with this crew of Wise Guys. We’ve never done a Wise Guys trip to see the Herd. It was a great group of guys to bring along. It was also a fun game to watch and be in the crowd for! The game went into overtime, but we didn’t come out with the win (lost 109-106). Afterwards, our Wise Guys got to take a group picture out on center court AND each guy was given the opportunity to make a true Free Throw…maybe just don’t ask us how many actually made the basket. Lol! Great job today Wise Guys! And thanks to the Wisconsin Herd for this awesome opportunity! 🙂
