🎉 Historic News for Mississippi Veterinary Technicians! 🎉

The Mississippi Association of Veterinary Technicians is proud to congratulate Katie Gable, CVT, on her appointment to the Mississippi Board of Veterinary Medicine by Governor Tate Reeves.

Katie becomes the first Credentialed Veterinary Technician to serve on the Board following the passage of HB 514, legislation that not only created a CVT seat on the Board but also strengthened protections for the CVT credential in Mississippi.

This is a significant step forward for veterinary technicians and a reminder of what can be accomplished through advocacy and professional engagement.

🎓 Graduation is only TWO days away! 🎓

On May 15th, our Veterinary Medical Technology Class of 2026 will celebrate their Pinning Ceremony at 9:30 AM, followed by graduation on the Mississippi State University main campus. We are incredibly proud of all the hard work, dedication, and perseverance these students have shown throughout their journey in the VMT program. 🩺🐾

Veterinary medicine is a field filled with compassion, resilience, teamwork, and heart. Those who have worked in vet med know that while some days can be challenging, the impact you make on animals, clients, and your team makes it all worthwhile in the end.

Whether you graduated from our program, another veterinary technology program, are a DVM, family member, friend, coworker, or supporter of veterinary medicine, help us congratulate our senior class!

🚨 Big News for Veterinary Technicians in Mississippi! 🚨

The revised Veterinary Practice Act has officially passed—and for the FIRST time ever, a Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT) will have a seat on the Mississippi Board of Veterinary Medicine (MBVM)!

This is a HUGE step forward for our profession. 👏

Now comes the next important step:
The Mississippi Association of Veterinary Technicians (MAVT) will be submitting up to 3 CVT nominees to the Governor for consideration.

👉 Only MAVT members can be considered and vote in this process.

We’ve already had several technicians rejoin (welcome back! 🙌), but we need MORE voices at the table to ensure strong representation across the state.
