Yesterday, we had the opportunity to meet a firefighter from North Kensington Fire Station with the London Fire Brigade, who stopped by to share his amazing story with us.
He is currently cycling around the world as part of the Grenfell World Cycle Tower to Tower challenge. His journey began in London and has already taken him more than 17,000 miles through numerous countries and stops at many fire departments with his travels now bringing him across America and along Historic Route 66!
His mission is about much more than cycling. He is raising awareness and money for The Grenfell Foundation, supporting youth projects and schools in the North Kensington community in London.
What stood out to us was the brotherhood of the fire service.
Here we are in Clinton, Oklahoma thousands of miles away from London and working in a completely different country, when a firefighter walks through our doors there is an immediate connection. The uniforms may look different, the equipment may be different but the values of service and helping others remain the same.
It was an honor to welcome him into our station, hear his story, and be a small part of his incredible journey.
From London to Clinton, the fire service truly is one family.

Safe travels!
