Pictured below with Club President, Becky Myers (middle) the Clinton Optimist Club welcomed Emma Lohse (left) and Lesli Mackey (right) from the Clinton Public Library. Emma and Lesli detailed the numerous exciting spring and summer offerings that the Library has on the horizon. They detailed how their annual Summer Reading program kicks-off on June first, followed promptly by a dinosaur program in partnership with the Terre Haute Children's Museum.

Unbeknownst to the Club, the annual Summer Reading Program includes adult readers and there's a fun "Clinton" component where our library competes against other "Clinton" municipalities across the country.

Thank you Emma, Lesli, and the entire staff of the Clinton Public Library for the continued amazing work that you do - not only for the youth of Clinton - but for all of Vermillion County.

OPTIMIST SPRING SOCCER
Coaches in the soccer program must complete a training course before they are given their team rosters to contact and practice. The majority of coaches have completed the course and should be in the process of contacting their players. The remaining few coaches should be completing the training and should be contacting their players during the next few days. Please remember that all of the coaches are volunteers and are taking their personal time to coach in the soccer ptrogram.

Hannah Montanez, teacher at South Vermillion High School, spoke to the Clinton Optimists about a new class being offered that focuses on public services and careers in that area. Students have learned about jobs in government, education, healthcare, emergency services, environmental conservation, community organizations, and the military. Ms. Montanez stated the goal of the class is not to push students toward one specific career, but to help them understand the broad landscape of public service and the essential role it plays in a healthy democracy. She added that in alignment with the new graduation requirements made by the state of Indiana, this specific course was created for students who wish to earn the Enlistment and Service Seal on their diploma. Ideally, students will strive to attain a seal that will prepare them individually for continued education, employment, or enlistment and service.
