To whom it may concern:
Regrettably, a decision was made at the 5/26/26 PTO meeting to dissolve PTO, as it stands, by June 1, 2026.
What does this mean?
PTO is a volunteer-run organization that has been solely ran by one individual for almost a decade with minimal assistance. We have been very grateful for all volunteers and assistance we did receive, but this is not sustainable.
Emails have been sent, Facebook and instagram posts made, notices put out by the school. Help never came. Regardless, the current PTO administration ran all obligations all year, and to this day have still not denied a single request made of them.
Are the schools losing money? Absolutely not!
The PTO, as it stands, is an organization outside the school and rarely has more than one person at a meeting (outside of its officers) and barely ever the same person at two meetings. There are currently two officers, even after requests for nominations and volunteers for growth.
The goal of the current PTO officers would be for the school to take over PTO and create their own PTO within the school moving forward.
The current officers have decided to put their families first, and are no longer able to complete all PTO functions/fundraisers/obligations without help; the help was just not there.
As seen in the posted 5/26/26 meeting minutes, it was voted that the funds raised by the current PTO administration (as voted on and approved) would be given to the school board to make future funding selections split between CIS, Henry Elementary and CECC.
The goal of the current administration has always been transparency and integrity. The funds are there to give back to the schools due to the hard work and dedication put forth in the current year and prior. The current PTO administration is grateful to be able to dedicate those funds back to the children in the community.
The current administration has followed all applicable bylaws in the dissolution process and asks for understanding, as this was a difficult and heartfelt decision that did not come easily.
That being said, the community is welcome to create a new PTO. A request can be made to the school board for funds to do so. This was all discussed in the meeting, with a faculty member present. The faculty member abstained from voting on any motions presented during the meeting.
There is no need for panic. The current administration is leaving enough funds to cover the cost of bussing for field trips for the next year, plus some. Field trip bussing is the biggest expense the current PTO pays for, and it has left enough to continue.
The current PTO would ask if there are any parents or faculty wanting to be involved to please work with the schools, directly.
Current PTO bylaws to be posted under separate cover.
