Following this week’s Christopher A. Blackman Scholarship online auction, we want to reach out and thank everyone for their involvement and support.

I’d like to also congratulate this year’s auction winners – see the final winner list below. Several of the auction items came down to the final minutes and many of you fought a good fight. Auction winners will be contacted by me, Bjorn or Genna to finalize payment details and next steps.

This year’s event and auction raised more than $15,000, which doesn’t even factor in the general donations many of you kindly made outside of the event. Want to donate, but didn’t have a chance? It’s not too late, instructions on how to make a gift are outlined below.

Thank you to our friends and family who were able to join the in-person event! While it was wonderful catching up after a three-year hiatus, we are very happy that we were able to host the auction online again as it continues to be a great way to engage those who don’t live locally and can show support from afar.

As you know, Chris loved his time at Hamilton College, majoring in history, playing football and making friends that still miss him each and every day. Thanks to your generous support each year, so his legacy will live on through the Scholarship.

We hope this finds you all well. While we realize the last two years have been trying, we wanted to reach out and provide you with positive news regarding the Christopher A. Blackman Scholarship Fund.
Seven years ago, we set out with an initial goal of $100,000 to activate the Fund and be able to provide financial support to a student at Hamilton College in Chris’s memory. As of this fall, the Fund’s market value is nearly $300,000. In addition, we have had the privilege to actively sponsor a student for the past two academic years.

We are thrilled to be able to celebrate these incredible milestones with you as we would not have been able to reach them without your support over the years.

This year instead of hosting our event we held an online auction for 1 week in November. We had many great auction items donated by friends from Hamilton and family. The Scholarship raised almost $20,000 and with this addition we hope the Fund can continue to sponsor student(s) for years to come.

If you missed the Auction and still would like to donate to the Christopher A. Blackman Scholarship Fund please do so by making a donation on https://www.hamilton.edu/makeagift.
After filling out the gift information please make sure on the second page of "Special Instructions" to please type in "The Christopher A. Blackman Scholarship".
If you prefer to pay by check please make your check out to “Trustees of Hamilton College” and indicate in the memo section “The Christopher A. Blackman Scholarship” and send to: Hamilton Annual Fund, Hamilton College, 198 College Hill Rd., Clinton, NY 13323.

Thank you all again!!

Keep the Hamilton promise alive and advance our collective good by making a gift to Hamilton College.

We are excited to host the third annual “Christopher A. Blackman Scholarship” event in New York City this year.

This evening honors our dear friend, Chris, whose life ended way too soon after battling testicular cancer. Chris loved his time at Hamilton College where he played football for four years and majored in history. Money raised goes to the Christopher A. Blackman Scholarship fund to provide financial aid to a student who has similar interests at Hamilton College.

COST
The three-hour event will have open bar and passed appetizers for $125. The cost for food/open bar is $25 and the remaining $100 will directly benefit the scholarship.

To achieve this, two payments are required:

1. Prior to arriving the event, please visit PayPal (www.paypal.com) or Venmo (www.venmo.com) to pay $25 for food/drink. Please pay Peter Bellard who will then pay directly to Whitman and Bloom.

2. For the remaining $100 (tax deductible) payment can be made in one of two ways.

a. Either bring a check to the event, made out to “Trustees of Hamilton College” and indicate in the memo section “The Christopher A. Blackman Scholarship.”

b. If you don’t have a check, you can pay online at the event where we will have laptops at the door. The $100 donation will be processed by Hamilton and you will receive a receipt directly from the College by mail.

SILENT AUCTION
There will also be a silent auction, featuring many terrific items. In the past those items have ranged from a week at a slope side condo in Vail to a fly fishing trip in Montana and rounds of golf at Piping Rock and Hudson National. Silent auction winners’ payment will be made online at the end of the night where 100% of the proceeds will go to the scholarship.

We hope you can attend to make this evening a special night to celebrate and remember our good friend.

On Thursday, November 3rd we will be hosting our second annual golf outing to celebrate our friend and loving family member Chris Blackman. The passing of Chris was a heartbreaking shock to all of us, but on November 3rd we have the opportunity to come together and celebrate the incredible person that Chris was. We hope to double the size of this years tournament by opening up the golf and dinner to a much larger group of Chris's friends and colleagues. Chris had an incredible network of family, friends and co-workers and we would like to include as many as possible going forward. Golf will begin at 12:30pm with a cocktail reception and dinner to follow. Proceeds will be used to fund the Christopher A. Blackman Scholarship at Hamilton College. I hope all of you can attend and make the day a great tribute to Chris.
