Since about 2000, several of the founding group periodically met to discuss the feasibility of a community foundation serving the Clinton area. They felt certain that the community leadership and nonprofit support a community foundation provides was important to the future of this area.. Finally in 2005, this small group convened to form an affiliate under the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuq

ue. Our name, "River Bluff Community Foundation" was selected to assure inclusion of eastern Iowa and western Illinois communities bordering the Mississippi River.
