Flight of the Dove

Flight of the Dove An annual cycling event to raise awareness and funding for VIA Health Partners-Laurens County. Each consecutive year has proven to be bigger and better!

Flight of the Dove began as a small group of local cyclist that were looking for a way to help Hospice of Laurens County. Their plan was to gather around 10 riders and raise a few hundred dollars from local sponsors. The planning for the ride began in February 2006 and by mid-May FOTD had raised a couple thousand dollars. The group of wonderful volunteers on the steering committee were ecstatic,

but a bigger surprise came the day of the ride.
2006’s inaugural ride attracted over 140 riders from all over SC, NC and GA and raised over $12,000.00. FOTD became Hospice of Laurens County’s largest event fundraiser and the steering committee committed to planning another ride for the following year. We all ate very well after the bike ride today. Ernie from Whiteford’s Catering was busy grilling, while The Lumberyard was busy taking care of the beverages! And The Front Porch Churn was back scooping out some delicious ice cream. New this year, (Greenville) - onsite making ‘to order’ hot malasadas. They were a big hit and delicious!

Thank you for participating in this year’s Flight of the Dove.
We just learned late Wednesday that our cycling jerseys are delayed in transit and will not arrive in time for Saturday’s event. With this being our 20th anniversary and hoping to see dozens of cyclists don this special edition jersey for the ride, we are deeply disappointed to receive this news from our vendor. Rest assured, we will be sending your pre-ordered jersey directly to you once they arrive. Jerseys will be sent to the mailing address used at the time of registration. If you prefer shipment to another address, please send a message.

Flight of the Dove online registration will close tomorrow, Friday, August 1st, at 12noon. You may register during packet pickup Friday from 4pm-6pm, at VIA Health Partner Laurens County,1304 Springdale Drive, Clinton. Also, registration will open Saturday, August 2nd at 7am. Ride Safe

Due to an unexpected bridge closure in the Newberry area, we’ve had to adjust the 50-mile and metric century routes. Please take a moment to download and review the updated maps to help you navigate the new course on event day.
