It was an amazing fall day and everything about that day was typical in our lives, parents cheered on while kids played sports, errands were being run, everyone was enjoying this amazing day, all in all life was good, or was it??? For some of us this day was another day filled with struggles, hopelessness, full regrets but most unfortunately a day filled with hopelessness for Evan Workman and the
day that he felt there was no other answer than to take his own life and forever change the lives of so many friends and family that loved him dearly. Through the solidarity of our Clinton Youth, the strength and the compassion of the Clinton School System and the camaraderie of the Clinton Community, we have been able to start the mending process and also learn some valuable lessons in life. It was because of this event, The group was formed to raise awareness, hope, strength and courage in the community about the seriousness of su***de in our society today. So many people in America struggle with the contemplations of su***de on a daily basis and sadly many of those same people find no other alternative but to take their own life. In 2011 according to AFSP.org almost 40,000 individuals took their own life, and astonishingly, su***de happens to be one of the top 10 causes of death in the US. There is hope, and that is that Su***de is one of the most preventable causes of death, but only if we as individuals take the time to take notice, to care and show true compassion for each of us as human beings. wants to bring attention to everyone that we all have responsibility in this matter, and that we have to come together as a to ensure that everyone realizes they have value, their own self-worth, meaning and hope in their life.. We as an organization want to give everyone the tools to recognize when someone is hurting, lost or searching for answers, so that we can assist these individuals with seeking the help they need. To intervene and allow them see past these dark moments in life, and realize that today is just a moment in time. With the right compassion, strength and guidance we can help these individuals realize that there are many of days of joy and happiness ahead of the them in life… This can only happen if we truly believe in the meaning and life this meaning the rest of our lives so that even in our own darkest moments, we know we are strong enough to live on…
