Hello,
Have you ever been so tired that even the thought of “staying strong” felt exhausting? You are still praying. Still showing up. Still handling what needs to be handled. But deep inside, you may be wondering, “Lord, how much longer can I keep doing this?” The people of Israel understood that kind of weariness.
Isaiah spoke to people who had experienced hardship, uncertainty, and a long season of waiting. Some felt forgotten by God and wondered whether He still saw what they were going through.
Then came this beautiful promise: 📖 “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 KJV
To “wait upon the LORD” did not mean sitting around doing nothing. It meant continuing to trust God, depend on Him, and remain hopeful while waiting for Him to act. The eagle imagery gave them a powerful picture. An eagle does not spend all its energy fighting against the wind. It can rise and allow the air beneath its wings to carry it higher.
In the same way, God was reminding His people: You do not have to survive this season through your strength alone. That truth still meets us right where we are today.
Modern life can leave us tired in ways sleep does not always fix. We can become worn down by caregiving, work, financial pressure, family concerns, health challenges, unanswered prayers, or trying to make the right decision.
Sometimes we are not running—we are barely walking. And honestly, there are days when simply not fainting deserves a quiet celebration. 😊. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that God meets us at every pace.
▶️ He gives strength when we need to rise.
▶️ He gives endurance when we need to run.
▶️ He gives grace when all we can do is keep walking.
This scripture also connects beautifully with our monthly focus " Finding Strength and Direction Through God’s Faithfulness. We find strength when we stop pretending we are limitless and begin depending on the One who is. We find direction when we wait prayerfully instead of rushing ahead simply because we are uncomfortable with uncertainty.
Waiting on God does not mean ignoring responsibility. It means praying, listening, obeying what He has already shown us, and trusting Him with what we cannot yet see. 🙏🏾
Here are a few practical ways to live out this verse:
✨ Pause and pray before making a decision from exhaustion.
✨ Give yourself permission to rest without calling yourself lazy.
✨ Return to God’s Word when your thoughts begin predicting the worst.
✨ Ask, “Lord, what is mine to carry—and what do I need to release to You?”
✨ Focus on today’s faithful step instead of trying to finish the entire journey at once.
God’s faithfulness may not always remove the wind, but He can teach us how to rise above what once exhausted us.
Now, where in your life do you need God to renew your strength—and might He be asking you to wait before choosing your next direction?
