❄️⚡ Winter Storm Power Outage Safety Tips ⚡❄️

Winter storms can knock out power quickly. If you lose electricity during cold weather, keep your family safe by following these tips:

🔥 Heating Safety
• Use fireplaces, wood stoves, or space heaters safely
• Keep all heaters at least 3 feet from anything flammable
• Never use grills, ovens, or generators indoors

⚠️ Generator Safety
• Only run generators outdoors, far away from doors and windows
• Never run generators in garages or near the home
• Make sure you have working carbon monoxide detectors

🕯️ Light Smart
• Use flashlights or battery-powered lanterns instead of candles
• If you must use candles, keep them attended and away from children and pets

🥶 Stay Warm
• Wear layers and gather everyone into one room to conserve heat
• Close doors to unused rooms
• Use blankets and sleeping bags for extra warmth

🚰 Protect Your Pipes
• Let faucets drip slightly
• Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate

📱 Stay Informed
• Keep phones charged when possible
• Monitor local weather and emergency updates

If you experience an emergency, call 911. For power restoration updates, contact your utility provider.

Stay warm. Stay safe.

🚨❄️ Snow & Ice Storm Travel Safety Reminder ❄️🚨
The Highway 110 Fire Department urges everyone to use extreme caution when traveling during snow and icy conditions. If you must be on the road, a little preparation can save lives.

🚗 Slow down and increase following distance
🛑 Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns on slick roads
💡 Turn on headlights so others can see you
🧊 Watch for black ice, especially on bridges, overpasses, and shaded areas
📱 Put the phone down — distracted driving is even more dangerous on ice
🧥 Carry an emergency kit: blanket, flashlight, charger, water, and warm clothing
❄️ If conditions worsen, stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary

Emergency responders are working hard during winter storms — help us help you by making safe choices.

Please check on neighbors and loved ones, and remember: No trip is worth risking your life. Stay safe and stay warm. ❤️🚒

⚠️ Generator Safety Reminder ⚠️
Power outages can happen anytime—if you’re using a generator, please take a moment to review these important safety tips to protect your family and our firefighters.

🔌 Use generators OUTSIDE only — never in homes, garages, or near windows or doors
🌬️ Keep at least 20 feet away from buildings to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning
🚫 Never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet — use approved extension cords or have a transfer switch installed
🔥 Let generators cool before refueling to avoid fires or burns
🧯 Keep generators dry and operate them on a flat, stable surface
🔋 Install carbon monoxide detectors with fresh batteries in your home

Carbon monoxide is odorless and deadly — one small mistake can be life-threatening.

If you have questions about generator safety, contact us. Stay safe and look out for one another! ❤️🚒

Tonight we landed a helicopter in the Plant Baptist church parking lot. One of the members had a medical emergency. We are thankful for the first responders who provided assistance to the patient. Blankets, pillows, and hot packs were needed to keep the patient warm as they waited for both an ambulance and helicopter that was requested.
