This week, KARM experienced its largest-recorded guest numbers ever--serving more than 450 guests on the night of Monday, January 22...and serving right at 400 guests each night since then.
Also, from January 15-January 25, we served more than 14,300 meals, which included meals we took to the City/County Warming Shelters while they were open and meals for our Outreach team to take to those in camps during our recent cold, icy weather.
While weather conditions of the past week have been incredibly challenging for KARM staff—with many team members pulling double shifts—we are oddly grateful for the opportunities it presents. “This kind of weather forces many men and women to come inside KARM’s doors for the first time, which allows our staff and volunteers the opportunity to let them know about the many resources available inside those doors. One of our overarching goals is to give overwhelming biblical hospitality to every single guest. We want to treat them the way we would want one of our own family to be treated if they were struggling with homelessness,” said Danita McCartney, KARM’s President and Chief Executive Officer. "We’re here 24/7/365 for men, women and children who are desperate for a hot meal, a safe place to rest, a chance to turn their lives around. We’re here for people who are desperate for hope."
Of course, all of us at KARM realize WE COULD NOT DO WHAT WE DO without the prayers, time, donations and in-kind gifts given by so many of YOU. A verse that reminds us of how important you are to KARM is Philippians 1:7: "It is right for (us) to feel this way about you all, because (we) hold you in (our hearts), for you are all partakers with (us) of grace..."
THANK YOU. May God bless you abundantly for how you partner with us to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our neighbors who are struggling with homelessness, fleeting domestic violence, and fighting to overcome addiction.
