Happy Disability Pride Month! As one way of celebrating, our Engagement Specialist, Kyla, has offered a reflection on this quote by Robert M. Hensel: “There is no greater disability in society than the inability to see a person as more."

🌟 We, as a community and as a whole, have a responsibility to collaborate with others no matter race, religion, gender, ability, etc. Society says one thing, but does that mean we have to listen? We think not. People get so stuck on their own ways of thinking, but that does not mean we cannot learn from others without judgement or hate. We crave different—different thoughts, opinions and viewpoints—then why can’t we be okay with different—different people, different ways of talking, different ways our bodies move, different ways our bodies are shaped, different backgrounds... There is nothing more beautiful than a garden full of flowers of all different shapes, sizes, and colors. Each one is special in their own unique way. We are better, stronger, and more beautiful when we are together. Everyone wants to be seen “as more.” Everyone wants to be valued and heard. There is no greater gift than being heard. 🌟
