A message from Marsha BonFleur and family. A sad loss for us all in the passing of Bruce BonFleur. He was a truly great man who walked with Jesus. Now he continues to walk with Jesus in His presence.

“In Loving Memory of Bruce BonFleur
With a mix of sadness and yes, some joy, we announce the passing of Bruce BonFleur. Bruce left us peacefully on Tuesday, September 17th. We are sad to lose someone we love so much and we will miss his presence daily. But we celebrate with him knowing that he now stands in the presence of the Almighty God.
Bruce dedicated his life to serving others, especially during his 20 years of ministry with the Oglala Lakota people of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It is impossible to share in this post, the impact he made throughout his life. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith touched countless lives.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Bruce’s life and legacy. Details of the memorial service will be shared soon. In lieu of flowers, Bruce asked that donations be made to your local YMCA, an organization that was close to his heart.
Thank you for your love, support, and prayers during this difficult time.

ANNOUNCEMENT from Wo’iyopastake Ministry

After prayerful consideration and discussion among the Board of Wo’iyopastake Ministry, we have come to the decision to bring our ministry to a close as of December 31, 2023. At that time we will have been in operation for 13 ½ years, having begun in June 2010.

Our scriptural guidance has been the words of Jesus found in John 15:16: “...I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain …” Bearing fruit that would remain became our primary focus.

In early August of this year our Board sensed a word from the Lord that we had completed our assignment. Our two partners on the Pine Ridge Reservation, the Whiteclay Makerspace and the Chanku Waste (wash-tay) Wellness Center, have launched and are now thriving!

First, we thank God for the calling He gave us to begin, and to carry out, this ministry led by the Holy Spirit, and dedicated to encouraging, strengthening, helping and supporting the Lakota pastors and Christian leaders on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in the good work they have been already doing to raise the quality of life for the Lakota people.

Secondly, we want to give heartfelt thanks to all our many donors and helpers from 2010 through to this day. You have been so generous in your financial giving as well as in all your giving & help with the Christmas Shoebox Gifts. We appreciate every one of you and we know we could not have accomplished any of these things without you. May God bless you back in all the ways you need Him the most.

We enjoyed an excellent visit out to our partners on the Reservation this past September, and we can say that great work is being done, in love, to help the Lakota people. We so believe in what our two partners are doing there that we have made the decision to continue to support them both as individuals. And we would highly recommend that anyone who has helped them through our ministry in the past would also consider continuing to support them directly.

Who is up for a fall Saturday work day? Outdoor clean up to do and some indoor organizing, painting, cleaning, repair, and tear out old bathtub/shower. Tearing down the old house as well. Please post a date of a Saturday that would work for your or a group of your friends.
