Anderson County Civitan Club

Anderson County Civitan Club Civitan International Civitan's Creed is unique among volunteer service organizations. It challenges members to attain the highest ethical and moral standards.

The creed is:

I AM CIVITAN as old as life, as young as the rainbow, as endless as time. MY HANDS do the work of the world and reach out in service to others. MY EARS hear the cry of children and the call throughout the world for peace, guidance, progress and unity. MY EYES search for others to join in the fellowship and service of Civitan. MY MOUTH utters the call to daily duty and speaks prayers

in every tongue. MY MIND teaches me respect for law and the flag of my country. MY HEART beats for every friend, bleeds for every injury to humanity, and throbs with joy at every triumph of truth. MY SOUL knows no fear but its own unworthiness. MY HOPE is for a better world through Civitan. MY MOTTO: builders of good citizenship. MY BELIEF: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. MY PLEDGE: to practice the Gold Rule and to build upon it in a better and nobler citizenship.

🎄✨ Christmas Message from the Anderson County Civitan Club ✨🎄

This Christmas season, we pause with grateful hearts to reflect on the mission and values that guide us as Civitans. We are proud to be part of a worldwide organization dedicated to building good citizenship through service—serving both individual and community needs, with a special emphasis on supporting people with developmental disabilities.

At Christmas, we are reminded of the power of service, the importance of inclusion, and the gift of fellowship. It is a season that calls us to give selflessly, to make room for everyone at the table, and to treat all people with the respect and dignity they deserve.

We celebrate the spirit of Civitan—neighbors and strangers coming together, leading with courage, sharing knowledge, and creating a true sense of belonging. Our vision remains strong: a community, and a world, where people of all abilities and talents work together to make life better for everyone.

Thank you to our members, volunteers, and supporters who live out these values every day. May your Christmas be filled with joy, peace, and the blessing of fellowship, and may the New Year bring renewed opportunities to serve.

🎁❤️ Merry Christmas from the Anderson County Civitan Club! ❤️🎁

Fun Fact Friday
🎉 10 Quirky Civitan Facts You Probably Didn’t Know! 🎉
Because every great service club deserves great weird trivia 😉

1️⃣ Early Civitan meetings used a whistle to bring everyone to order. Yes, like recess ending.
2️⃣ “Civitan” comes from the Latin civitas (citizenship)… which basically makes us “citizens squared.”
3️⃣ The first club almost called itself The Good Fellows Club—but decided it sounded too frat-y.
4️⃣ Civitan started because Kiwanis wouldn’t shift from business to service. So we said, “Fine, we’ll do it ourselves.”
5️⃣ Civitan welcomed women early, long before many other service clubs even discussed it.
6️⃣ The famous Candy Box Project started as friend-raising, not fundraising.
7️⃣ Some clubs fined members for showing up without a tie—all money went to charity. Fashion for a cause!
8️⃣ Civitan is the only major service club with its own international research center (the UAB CIRC).
9️⃣ Clubs have had mascots ranging from squirrels to purple dragons. Creativity level: maximum.
🔟 The Junior Civitan Creed was written by a teenager in the 1950s—and it stuck!

💙 Civitan: proudly quirky since 1917.

December has arrived, Civitan friends!

It’s hard to believe we’re already in the last month of the year. As things get busier for everyone, our club is taking a moment to look back on what we’ve been able to do together and think about what’s ahead.
December is always a special time for us a chance to support our community, reconnect, and wrap up the year on a positive note.

We’ll be sharing details soon about our upcoming projects.
Looking forward to seeing everyone and finishing the year strong!
