Our nonprofit was formed to bring 8 dimensions of wellness to our community-Spiritual, physical, social, financial, emotional, occupational, intellectual, environmental. Our nonprofit purchased the historic Magill House building from the Dewitt County Restoration Association as the location to house the business because it is an important part of our communities history and itself has been a part
of the 8 dimensions of wellness by housing opportunities for events, and also running restaurants, drug stores, variety stores, hotel rooms, and providing jobs. The Magill ResToration Centre (MRC) has begun to bring back those aspects back to the community. It has started by opening a store for locally made or sourced products and also using its space for gatherings such as a fiber arts group, and adding classes such as screen painting. We have plans to further renovate other areas of the building into a bakery cafe that specializes in healthy organically sourced baked goods, a farm to table restaurant, an Airbnb style overnight rooms, edible gardens with outdoor dining and entertainment, and a retreat center. Other aspects of wellness are included in plans to use solar and geothermal systems, recycle items to use in our own homemade products, use the edibles from the gardens in our food items, and beautify our surrounding building spaces for multiple uses. Some of these include: healthy eating and cooking,
physical activity using the American Guidelines for Activity with yoga and exercise for a variety of abilities, ages and lifestyles,
gardening for activity and healthy foods,
meditation and worship experiences,
counseling on -finances, emotional health, inner healing, spiritual direction,
creativity with arts such as painting, jewelry making, fiber arts,
demolition and reconstruction experiences,
volunteer opportunities such as construction, reconstruction, store and other business models, classes, counselling services, health coaching.
