Happy Earth Day! Holy listening is a central part of Mount Eagle. God moves, breathes, and speaks through creation, the Church, and people around the world. A part of holy listening is hearing God moving in the world and responding to opportunities to join in what others are doing. We are grateful for the work of EarthKeepers; the impact they have in so many communities and for the invitations they give to bring people, including us, into their ministry. This Earth Day, let us all take time to listen to God’s call to care for creation and all who call this earth home.

We are humbled to be a part of this story. As Rev. Jenny Phillips puts it, “I don't know what God is going to do with all of this…but I know that we are all serving faithfully in ways that are consistent with our theological understanding as our role as stewards of God’s creation.” We stive to serve faithfully as well, echoing the UMC Social Principles, “We affirm our sacred calling to be responsible stewards and to lovingly tend all that God has wrought. We recognize the inherent worth of God’s creation, celebrate earth’s abundance and diversity, and, along with the entirety of the cosmos, give praise to its Creator. We recognize we are interconnected members of complex ecosystems, intricate webs of life, all of which have their origins in God’s gracious act of creation.”

The EarthKeeper movement within The United Methodist Church celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, with about 450 graduates of its training program doing their best to make the environment safer for future generations.

A big thanks to The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas for funding an EV Charging station here at Mount Eagle! We are grateful to be able to offer this for guests and those passing through. It is set up, commissioned, and has charged its first vehicles. Without a nearby charger, this really helps provide access for EVs that would have been difficult without these. Thank you!

It was a great time at Pinnacle View UMC's Earth Day Festival this weekend! It was fun seeing the blessing of all the pets and the unique ministries of the church. Thank you for inviting us to participate!

We are so thankful for the children of Newport FUMC to give our compost machine such beautiful blessings! We had the opportunity to share with their Sunday School class a little bit about loving our neighbors through loving our earth. One of the things we did was write and draw blessings to be mixed into our food scraps as it composts. We just added them today!

We still have some spaces open this summer or get a head start for 2027. Youth groups, small to large, can reserve cottages and/or lodges to fit your needs. You can structure your stay for the number of nights that work for you as you experience God in creation hiking to Bear Cave, gathering at the Outdoor Chapel, worshiping in Rosewood Pavilion, and circling around the campfire. Looking for service projects? We can set up projects and supplies on site or work with local churches and ministries to find something that fits your group. Want a little more adventure? The Buffalo River is within an hour for a fun day trip. Call or email with questions or to book your retreat!

Blessed to have experienced Veritas this weekend with hundreds of amazing youth from all over Arkansas and further! It was fun doing a breakout session on creation care and a joy connecting with great people doing awesome ministries.

We have great lodging options with AC and WiFi, but we also have Brunner Campground. This great group campground has seven tent pads plus more open areas for tents, fire rings, electric outlets, water, pavilion, and bathhouse. As the weather starts getting nice, consider planning a camping trip to a quiet corner of Mount Eagle.
