Our Appalachian matriarch. A bright spot in this world that at times seems so bleak. For most of us, Dolly was the first person we saw in media being proudly from our hills, and she made us feel seen and represented and proud.

“Dolly called and said she wants to lay on a beautiful bed of plush cotton, because after a life wearing heavy rhinestones, she deserves to be comfortable and have some rest.”

That she does. Thank you, Dolly, for everything.

Join us in two weeks for our next First Tuesday Conversation about how communities can push local governments to address data center proposals, what data centers could mean for Kentucky Power customers, and to address your concerns for our communities. Grab dinner with us on August 4th.

Today, we’re remembering the 45 lives lost during the 2022 floods in Eastern Kentucky.

Four whole years later, we don’t have many pictures to post, and we certainly don’t have many words to describe the toll this disaster took on our communities. We’re still rebuilding because we’re Appalachian and that’s what we do; we’ll always get back up.

Then and now, more than ever, we’re remember that we’re all we’ve got and we’ll keep taking care of each other. Always.

Thanks for being here. Keep fightin’ the good fight and love on your neighbors today. ❤️‍🔥

We tried to make a cutesy video about a possum but then started crying over the unrelenting strength of mothers?

Anyway, Happy Mother’s Day to all you Appalachian badasses raising heatherns just like us. We love ye!
