This one got me..... Today's delivery has been sitting on my heart the whole evening.
Just looking at the realistic statistics
In 2023, out of the 343,000 children in care, 19% of the kids were teens.
70,000+ kids who are looked at as young adults, buy yet, they aren't. They are still in their childhood. Kids deserving of kid things like bike riding, vacations, ice cream trips, late night drives, star gazing, and so many other normative experiences. They are forced to make choices that are so far above their heads, and shuffled into choices that are made for them.
Is there an answer? Probably not. We pray for the people who make the decisions for them, judges, lawyers, casa, social workers, and even foster parents themselves. All we know is that love moves people. It pushes them forward to scary places but the scary is where Jesus lives. "God will never give you more than you can handle" is not Scripture. He will give us seasons that stretch us and allow Him to be our rock.
We say thank you to the homes who say yes to teens. We need to be praying for these homes and supporting them as much as possible.
"That's why when mountains move I say, looks like somebody prayed".
