Friday, August 21st four members of the Climax Fire Department participated in a controlled burn workshop. This event was hosted by, The Kentucky Prescribed Fire Council and The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.
We look forward to continuing this class in the fall by assisting in prescribed burns across the state of Kentucky..

🚒 Community Update 🚒

We are pleased to announce that our department has successfully completed our ISO (Insurance Services Office) audit and received an ISO Public Protection Classification score of 8B.

Our members work diligently throughout the year to maintain accurate records, keep our equipment and apparatus in excellent condition, and meet the many standards required for this evaluation. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it plays an important role in helping provide quality fire protection for our community.

An improved ISO rating can have a positive impact on homeowners insurance premiums for properties within our fire district. However, every insurance company uses ISO information differently when determining rates.

If your home is located within our fire department’s coverage area, we encourage you to contact your insurance provider and let them know about our updated ISO rating. Any questions regarding how this rating may affect your homeowners insurance should be directed to your insurance company, as they determine eligibility and any potential savings.

Thank you to our Chief, Brian Wynn, for his dedication and countless hours of work to organize the documentation and complete the audit process for our department and our community.

Today was the day for our Annual Car Show! What a great day we had. We want thank everyone who made the trip to bring out these awesome vehicles, the Thompson Family who organize such a great show, each of our volunteers, each sponsor and everyone that made a donation, our judging crew, and our community for coming out to enjoy the event! This is an outstanding fundraiser that helps our department keep going and providing our services in this community. We truly appreciate the support and look forward to seeing you out here next time! We would like to thank Mount Vernon Fire Department for helping us put up our new tower at the Fire Department. While we was working Hallow Springs Farm brought us some Blueberry Bread. Thank you all so much. It is very appreciated.

This morning, Brodhead Fire Department responded to an injury accident on I-75 northbound at the 69.8 mile marker.

Upon arrival, Engine 11 was positioned in a blocking position to protect the scene, closing the right travel lane. Command 12 was positioned well in advance of the incident as a warning vehicle to provide additional scene protection for responders and motorists.

While crews were operating on the scene, a passenger vehicle failed to move over and struck Engine 11 on the driver’s side. As a result of the collision, one Brodhead firefighter was transported from the scene to Saint Joseph Berea for evaluation and has since been treated and released. The occupant of the passenger vehicle refused treatment and transport at the scene.

Kentucky State Police Post 11 responded and is actively investigating both collisions.

This incident serves as an important reminder that Kentucky’s Move Over Law exists to protect emergency responders, law enforcement, tow operators, highway workers, and the motoring public. When you see emergency vehicles with lights activated, slow down and move over. If you cannot safely move over, reduce your speed and proceed with extreme caution.

Thankfully, today’s incident did not result in more serious injuries.
