Beautiful weather today for a beautiful event. I want to thank Passaic Mayor Lora and Maryann Capursi, president of the Passaic school board and Passaic-Clifton Unico‘s own for putting together a wonderful event in honor of Sergeant David R D’Arco. I want to thank all those in attendance, including UNICO‘s past national presidents, Joe Agresti, Steve Pelitone and his wife and first national president Steve Calatone and his wife for also being in attendance, special thanks to the Paterson PD for the Honor Guard ceremony and also to the Passaic PD, DPW and mayor staff that were in attendance that all helped make it a wonderful event, today we honored a man who truly believed in Service above self, and whose legacy will live forever with the plaque on the Italian flag at third ward park in Passaic

Thank you, David for all you did and continue to do in inspiring others in faith and service above self

On June 9th Clifton High School held their annual Senior Scholarship and Awards Program.
Passaic-Clifton UNICO was proud and honored to award 5 scholarships to deserving Clifton Seniors of Italian descent.
The David R D'Arco Service Above Self Scholarship was awarded to Alexis Smith.
Andrew Chiodo, Brianna Chiodo, Gianna Colon and Mathew Doktor also received D'Arco Service Above Self scholarship Tuesday evening.
The D'Arco Family was in attendance for the award presentations
We would like to congratulate the recipients.
As a note, this is the first year in a long time we had as many applicants and we awarded over $5000 in scholarships this year.
Already looking forward to next year.

Meet Dave D'Arco.

A devoted husband, father, brother, friend, police officer, and community leader, Dave spent his life serving others. For 25 years, he proudly served the City of Paterson as a police officer. As President of the Passaic-Clifton UNICO chapter and through his work with the PBA's No Shave November campaign benefiting St. Jude, he raised over $25,000 for children battling cancer.

In 2012, Dave was diagnosed with ocular melanoma. He faced every challenge that followed with courage, strength, and unwavering determination. After years of fighting, Dave passed away in February 2025.

The All For Dave Foundation was created to honor his legacy of service above self. Our mission is to support individuals and families impacted by cancer, with a special focus on ocular melanoma, by helping ease the financial burden of treatment-related expenses such as prosthetic eyes, chemotherapy, and travel costs.

Dave dedicated his life to helping others. Through this foundation, his impact will continue for years to come.

Please see below, as you may or not be aware, our friend Dave ran a no shave November campaign at the Paterson PD that was very successful with all proceeds going to a charity that was near and dear to him, Saint Jude.

Members, friends and followers,

The Passaic Clifton chapter of Unico would like to thank you all for your continued support and we would like to make you aware of our two upcoming fundraisers .

First off, we’ll be running a raffle that will be called Dinner for a Year, the winner will receive dinner for two, appetizers and entrées, at 12 local restaurants, the certificates can be used all in one month if you choose to eat out that much or once a month, hence dinner for a year. Raffle tickets and pricing are to be determined

The second fundraiser will be a restaurant discount card that will entitle the holder to discounts at participating restaurants, this is not a one time use card-the card will be valid for a year, and you can use it at any of the restaurants for a percentage off as many times as you attend those restaurants. The cost of the cards will be $20 each.

These fundraisers are independent of each other, and don’t necessarily include the same restaurants

Right now we need our followers’ assistance and help .

If you own a restaurant, have a friend or family member that owns a restaurant, or frequent a restaurant that you know would be willing to donate, please reach out to us via the comments. This is not the time to say I’ll buy a raffle or I’ll buy a discount card. We need to complete the solicitation of those restaurants willing to participate in one or both .

It’s a great advertising opportunity for those restaurants willing to participate.

Once again, please reach out via the comments and a member will contact you or the restaurant directly.

We are a 501C3 organization and we will provide all the necessary paperwork as well as the forms to be filled out for tax purposes.

The fundraisers that we run help us fund our scholarship drive for both Passaic and Clifton high school students of Italian descent going onto higher education.
