As we start 2026, we are pleased to announce a second quilt fundraiser. Made with love by Katrina Land, American Legion Auxiliary members are available to sell tickets. The drawing will take place after the annual chili cook-off event on March 28th, hosted at our post. The proceeds will go towards supporting the Auxiliary and our upcoming scholarship program. Reach out to us to get tickets to win this beautiful quilt in our upcoming drawing!

Tickets are available for $5 each or five tickets for $20.

On Feb. 3, 1943, the U.S. Army Transport Dorchester, carrying over 900 men, was enroute to Greenland when a German U-boat struck. As chaos erupted, the Four Chaplains distributed life jackets but, when they ran out, removed their own and gave them to young Soldiers.

They were Chaplain Alexander D. Goode, a rabbi; Chaplain George L. Fox, a Methodist minister; Chaplain Clark V. Poling, a Dutch Reformed minister; and Chaplain John P. Washington, a Catholic priest; Despite their different faiths, they were united by a shared conviction: that service to God was inseparable from service to others. In their shared mission of serving others, they would become immortalized as the Four Chaplains, heroes whose courage transcended creed.
