The Book of the Face can really be a wild place.
Lately we notice an uptick in extremely uneducated or even hateful comments on not only our posts or reels, but as we scroll others as well.
I am not going to sit and dwell in this discussion or fall further into their conclusions or thoughts, but I will say - do your homework before making yourself look foolish in your comments.
These kinds of folks commenting are not followers and come across one reel and assume they know all there is to know about an individual or group, in this case our nonprofit rescue.
Legitimate rescues are transparent and in fact will respond to and be active in the comments. Scammers will widely ignore, and even continue their ugly ways of trying to figure out the next scam they can post.
Just because a nonprofit is fundraising, asking for support, or trying to even educate the public, doesn’t mean that we’re all “scammers” or not legit. Do the homework, look up our rescue in the databases that are readily available via Google. Message and ask us questions and we’ll respond. We will provide documentation to those concerned. The egregious and outright ridiculous comments are not going to be accepted here. We don’t have time for the accusatory or offensive rhetoric coming through comments. We have animals to care for.
We couldn’t be more legitimate and take our work and the nonprofit rescue we built seriously. This is largely on us, our own personal funds support this rescue when donations don’t come in enough to cover the general operational costs. These people commenting would never, and that’s something we take into consideration when monitoring our social media accounts.
Are there scammer accounts? ABSOLUTELY. That’s why we encourage doing your homework on the organization you hope to support, and/or follow.
If you are not ready to do that, then please just take your finger and scroll up, right on by. Because what you’re doing by commenting on good intentioned organization or individual’s posts is unacceptable and shows the character behind you. Fact is, if it’s a scam account, you aren’t hurting them, but you very well could be hurting the ones operating on heart and passion.
