One of the FRIENDS' key missions is to encourage the use and enjoyment of the many resources and services of the Clifton Public Library. We invite you to join us for a special evening of poetry on Tuesday, June 23, 6:30 pm at the Main Library. Featured poet Paul Juszcyk will share selections of his work and Victoria Samulka will also present as Special Guest Poet. We hope you will join us for what is sure to be an enjoyable and enriching experience.

Earlier this month FRIENDS of the Clifton Public Library celebrated Flag Day by hosting a performance by Richard Stillman Actor-Musician. (We're having a spot of trouble with the audio clips/video clips but I'll post them here as soon as I can.) Richard is a wonderful storyteller, full of anecdotes about the history behind the music, the musicians themselves, the people who lived, and loved, the music... If you have a chance to see him perform, you absolutely should!!!

The Clifton Public Library will be celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution in a very special way. They are collecting family recipes and traditions from YOU, our community!!! You can scan the QR code on the image or you can drop a copy of your recipe at the Main Library or the Allwood Branch. Be sure to include why it's so special to you and to your family! Submissions should be in to the library by the end of July.

If you missed this spring performance by Mike Luipersbeck and the All-Star Quartet, you can see them again when they appear in December for their annual holiday concert. In the meantime, here are a few photos and a video clip. As always they were terrific - I'd really recommend you try to see them the next time they perform for us at the Clifton Public Library. Here's another way you can support the Clifton Public Library and FRIENDS of the Clifton Public Library! Did you do some late spring cleaning? Do you have a small stack of "stuff" that's too good to throw away but maybe too much trouble to hold onto for a garage sale? Why not donate some of those gently used (or even new!) items to our Gift Gallery? Please remember, we do not accept clothes or stuffed animals, but those picture frames, mugs, vases, home decor? Yes, please!!! Just drop them off at the front desk of the Main Library on Piaget Avenue. We'll price them to sell and someone will find exactly what they're looking for when we add them to our Gift Gallery shelves!

Come to the Allwood Library and take a look at all the wonderful and unique items for sale in our Pop-Up Gift Gallery! We will be featuring items from the Pop-Up here on this account each week. Perhaps you need a last-minute Father's Day gift? There are a couple of golf-themed items on display. Do you need a vintage three-tiered display stand for your next tea party? Or perhaps you want a beaded bracelet for your BFF's birthday? Remember, first come, first served! All sales are final and cash only. And if you don't find what you want at the Pop-Up, remember to visit our Gift Gallery at the Main Library, on the first floor.

On April 23, FRIENDS of the Clifton Public Library sponsored a poetry reading by four local award-winning poets. Reading poetry is so rewarding, but to hear the words from the mouths of the authors is something to experience, their feelings, their thoughts, the inspiration that led them to that finished work - if you have an opportunity to listen to poetry, read by the authors, I encourage you to do so. We’re certainly going to have more poetry events later in the year. Thanks to Maria Mazziotti Gillan, Jim Gwyn, Frances Lombardi-Grahl and Jacqueline Wooten-Rose for participating in our event.
