We are pleased to share an overview of the recent educational tour hosted and sponsored by the Greenlee County Historical Society for the Metcalf 3rd graders at the GCHS Museum.

This engaging field trip provided a hands-on opportunity for the students to explore the rich history and culture of Greenlee County. The tour primarily focused on Metcalf, featuring exhibits with our volunteers portraying characters for each exhibit, highlighting the lives of early settlers, ranching, and transportation.

Through this experience, the students were able to deepen their understanding of social studies concepts in a meaningful and memorable way.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties for their invaluable support for sponsoring this educational tour.

Thank you for your continued support of our mission to educate and inspire.

Dear Members and Friends of the Greenlee County Historical Society,

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Board Member and past President, Josephine Rose Cislaghi Lunt. Jo passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026.

Jo joined our board in 1996 and served with dedication and passion as both a Board President and Board Member until February 2026. Her enthusiastic and generous leadership greatly enriched the Greenlee County Historical Society.

I wanted to take a moment to highlight and celebrate the incredible work Jo has done in our community. Among her many contributions, she was a passionate advocate for history education, truly making a difference in how we promote this important subject.

Additionally, Jo led the GCHS Scholarship Fund, supporting a special student from Morenci, and Duncan Schools. Her dedication has touched countless lives through her commitment to education and community support.

The Board and all members of the Society are forever grateful for Jo’s invaluable contributions not only to the Greenlee County Historical Society but also to our communities.

We will deeply miss her presence, guidance, and friendship.
