Centreville Robotics

Centreville Robotics Centreville Robotics, a seventh year FIRST Robotics Team The team had a successful year but was not able to continue in the following year.

The Centreville Robotics team, 5243, was first established in the 2009-2010 school year and mentored by Oli Small & Edie Rutz. In the 2013-14 school year a small group of dedicated students worked to establish the Centreville High School Robotics team. With the help of mentors Oli Small and Dave Thompson, the current Centreville Robotics team was formed. The goal of the team was to particpate in t

he First Robotics Competition in 2014's Aerial Assist game. The team had to adapt quickly to the fast-paced schedule of the FRC, and with hard work, flexibility, and dedication the team ranked 16th place in the rankings of the DC regional where over 50 teams competed. The team was awarded the FIRST Highest Rookie Seed Award at the competition. In the 2015's Recycle Rush game we competed at two regional events. We finished at the South Florida Regional ranked 14th out of 50 teams, but we were not selected for an Alliance position for the playoffs. At the Greater DC Regional we finished in 13th place, but moved into the 8th Alliance Captain position due to the Alliance selection process. As Alliance captains we selected teams 116 (out of Herndon, VA) and 2377 (out of Pasadena, MD). Our strong Alliance was incredibly successful through quarter-finals, semi-finals and made it to the final round. In the final matches we fell to the 1st ranked Alliance, earning 120 to their 124 points, and then 132 to their 137 points.

In honor of Logan De la Cruz, an alumni that had recently passed away, we are naming team 5243 Aegis Centerville robotics mascot Logan. During his days on the team, he acted as a pillar of leadership and led our FTC 9830 team to regionals 4 times! Logan also took part in leading our FRC team to regionals and worlds. He served not only as a cherished member, but a friend, pillar of support, and inspiration for our team. Our team will continue to work hard and continue the legacy he left behind.
