Ask a Palestinian about the olive tree, and the answer is never only about oil. It’s about memory and belonging, a quiet bond between people and land. Every family has trees that have watched their lives unfold, standing through years of change and return. From generation to generation, the same soil is tended, season after season. 🫒

Hussein Odeh, from the village of Farkha, grew up with olives, za’atar, and olive oil always in the house. Hear him reflect on the trees he grew up caring for, and the traditions that stayed with him.
