"The Daily Feast" continues with a split in cyberspace: 1. Looking back at my baseball playing days, I am saddened to learn of so many of my teammates who have passed away. 2. Two of my teammates who have passed away made it all the way to the Major Leagues, one winning more than 140 games as a pitcher who also was selected for the National League All-Star Team twice and the other one who played nine seasons in MLB and finished with a .250 batting average while being the only player on either of the two teams in the World Series to get a hit in all seven games. 3. All of the coaches who coached me in baseball have sadly passed away, and as I recall, some of my best days were spent on baseball diamonds either as a player who played on eight championship teams or as a high school varsity baseball coach who coached in Kentucky, Michigan, and California to post a 100-65 overall record.

"The Daily Feast" continues with blessings in cyberspace: 1. My 5th book of poems titled 777 Poems was published on July 22, 2024, and the book is on sale here at the Buckhorne Country Store and Campground (I sold one today) and at ACE Hardware in Clifton Forge. 2. Anyone who reads this post may visit Amazon and type M. Ray Allen, 777 Poems, and the front cover and back cover of the book will be visible along with pertinent information about the book and the way to order it. 3. My son, Landon Ray Allen, is a pilot for Southwest Airlines, and he has distributed the book to airport reading rooms in New Mexico, Illinois, Maine, and Maryland this week. NOTE: The 777 Poems can be ordered from Target, Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, City Lights Booksellers & Publishers, and more than 200 other bookstores across the nation.

"The Daily Feast" continues with a truth in cyberspace: 1. My fifth book of poems is the most unique book that I have ever written because it features a new poetic form, the 777 poem. 2. I created the 777 poem, and the book titled 777 Poems features only 777 poems, each poem made up of seven stanzas in length, each stanza consisting of seven lines, and each of the seven lines composed of seven monosyllabic words so that when read aloud each line produces exactly seven sounds per line, all content pertaining to the life of Christ on Earth or as the Word before becoming flesh to dwell on Earth as Christ. 3. To view the front and back cover of 777 Poems, just type the name of your favorite bookstore or Amazon and add 777 Poems, M. Ray Allen. NOTE: The 777 Poems is one of a kind in that no other book ever published features this new poetic form, and Charles Billingsley notes that in the "Foreword" that he wrote for 777 Poems that was published on July 22, 2024.

"The Daily Feast" continues with a helping hand in cyberspace: 1. Charles Overstreet came to the rescue of Appalfolks of America Association in 1991 when our non-profit organization needed help in restoring the Historic Masonic Theatre that was operating as the Historic Masonic Theatre at the time. 2. Charles owns a number of ACE Hardware stores, and he donated all of the pipes and other equipment needed to fix the interior pipes and furnaces inside the theatre. 3. Now he has a matching fund-drive going at ACE Hardware where he will match each donation given by his customers to help flood victims from Helene. NOTE: So, when you donate your money, it will be doubled by ACE Hardware and distributed to help those in need, and that deserves a "shoutout" to Charles!

"The Daily Feast" continues with a first in cyberspace: 1. On October 17, 1992, The Virginia Opry, a troupe of 10 performers that has grown to 12 bands comprised of 71 members, made its debut on stage at the Historic Stonewall Theatre in Clifton Forge, Virginia, and last night The Virginia Opry performed at the Virginia State Fair in Doswell where Governor Glenn Youngkin spoke to the audience after Gentlemen South, one of our 12 bands, opened for Dan Tyminski and his band. 2. The Virginia Opry, an Appalfolks of America Association program, has been designated as the Commonwealth of Virginia's official Opry since 2020, and The Virginia Opry has performed in Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke, Natural Bridge, Covington, and Clifton Forge since "Senate Bill 283" was passed and signed by Governor Ralph S. Northam on March 31, 2020. 3. The Virginia Opry's next show will be held at The Historic Masonic Theatre on Saturday, November 30, at 7:00 p.m. and will feature World Champion Elvis Tribute Artist Michael Hoover, Nashville Recording Artist Glen Shelton, and Crimson River, a Christian Country/Bluegrass band from the Alleghany Highlands. "The Daily Feast" continues with a clue in cyberspace: 1. Vice-Presidential candidate U.S. Senator J.D. Vance visited Damascus, Virginia, that was badly flooded from the outer bands of Helene. 2. He was welcomed by the town manager and other officials and referred to them as fellow hillbillies, the term my mother said applied to those of us who lived in Eastern Kentucky while those across the nearby border on Pound Mountain were ridge-runners. 3. I never quite understood the distinction, but growing up in Floyd County, Kentucky, potholes in asphalt roads were called chugholes, a paper bag was referred to as a poke, and Vienna Sausage was pronounced VI-E-KNEES! NOTE: Growing up in an unincorporated small village like McDowell, Kentucky, had its advantages as well as disadvantages, but that is another story for another "Daily Feast."

My fifth book of poems was published by Mountain Empire Publications on July 22, 2024, and the new poetic form that I created and named a 777 poem is featured in the book titled 777 Poems. 2. Each poem in the book features seven stanzas, each stanza is comprised of seven lines, and each of the seven lines contains exactly seven monosyllabic words so that when the poem is recited, the audience will hear exactly seven sounds per line. 3.
