The Global Coral Repository

The Global Coral Repository The Global Coral Repository (TGCR) has developed award winning technology that enables us to restore coral reefs globally and preserve the planet’s entire.

The Global Coral Repository (TGCR) will create a global coral seed bank that will store frozen samples of every species of coral on the planet, thus safeguarding coral reefs for future generations. Exciting new technology, specifically developed for TGCR, and which has already received prestigious awards allows us to take a piece of coral the size of your thumb and generate hundreds of biopsies (a

lso called explants) all of which can be cultured to regenerate into adult coral. Native coral species held within the repository will be grown into adult coral colonies and used in reef restoration projects globally. Finally we have the technology that enables us to restore once decimated coral reefs to their original splendour! TGCR is a partnership of Haereticus Environmental Laboratory, Oxford University and the Zoological Society of London. Donations to this project can be made through contacting: [email protected] and soon on our website www.coralrepository.org
