Follow a healthy, friendly, 4 year old appy gelding, as he seeks out human contact while running through the system after being dumped in the “loose horse” pen by his owner, to his final demise on a kill buyer’s truck to Bouvry Exports in Alberta, Canada. 🇨🇦

NOTE: This was filmed in 2015, when close to 200,000 US horses were shipped to slaughter. Today that number is closer to 20,000.

There has been ZERO increase in starvation or horse abandonment, so where are all those horses going now who aren’t being slaughtered?

The answer is, they’re being absorbed into the system, as the remaining 20,000 will be when slaughter is shut down completely.

Next time a pro-slaughter person claims their big concern is starvation, remind them of this.

CORRECTION on original text. It was the owner of a different horse (same outcome) who “cried all the way home.” The owner of the appy believed someone would buy his horse, being young and quite flashy. Which further goes to show the truth of this industry - no horse is safe. In fact the healthier and younger the horse, the more at risk they are.
