It’s October, which means it’s officially APPLE season in Ohio! 🍏

Celebrate National Farm to School and ECE Month by featuring 's October Harvest of the Month: apples! Early childhood is the perfect time to introduce new textures and flavors. Try a classroom apple taste test: slice up red, green, and yellow (local, if possible) apples and let your little learners vote on their favorite! 🔴🍏🟡

Do you want safe sleep practices to really stick in your ECE? It may be time to bring families into the conversation. Gather your team and talk about holding a short training or information session for caregivers. An open honest conversation can build trust while encouraging consistency between home and ECE, and in turn can help keep every infant safe during every sleep.

On Thursday, October 8th, join , ECEs, and schools across Ohio for the Ohio Great Apple Crunch! It’s a simple, fun way to celebrate . If you can, find local Ohio apples (and if you can't, any apple will do!) and get your classrooms to crunch in to apples together! 🍎🍏

Safe sleep starts with policies your whole staff can trust - which is why we are asking all early care providers to take a moment to check in on your program’s safe sleep policy. Is it up to date? Is it easy for every staff member to understand? Is it followed for every infant and sleep? A thoughtful quick review can help keep infants safe, team members in unison, and reassure families. So, creating a clean, comfortable space for breastfeeding or pumping can assist in families feeling more welcomed and supported in your program. All you need is a chair, an outlet, and a quiet private space. These can make all the difference, and every thoughtful step can help families in their breastfeeding journey.
