The Dustin Ledford Scholarship Foundation family is heartbroken to hear of the tragic loss of a local high school student this weekend.

We are lifting up this student’s family, friends, classmates, and teachers in prayer during this unimaginable time. May they feel surrounded by love, comfort, and strength in the days ahead.

On Tuesday night, the Ledfords and a few members of our committee attended The 24/7 Movement “Choices Matter” Banquet. The Dillard family—who started the 24/7 Movement—also lost their son and daughter-in-law to a drunk driver, leaving behind their three precious children. Their mission is so similar to ours through the Dustin Ledford “Live Wide Open” Scholarship Foundation—to honor loved ones lost and to help prevent others from experiencing the same tragedy caused by impaired driving.

The Dillard family graciously invited us to join them for the banquet and honored the Ledfords, along with two other local families, who have also lost loved ones to drunk driving.

It was an incredibly moving night—one filled with shared purpose, remembrance, and hope. Together, we continue to carry forward the message that every choice matters and every life is worth protecting. 💙

💙 What a special night.
We gathered at Shane’s Rib Shack to surprise Kim and Danny and celebrate what would have been Dustin’s 40th birthday.

Dustin worked at Shane’s when his life was tragically cut short by a drunk driver, and even after his passing, the owner has continued to honor his memory in the most heartfelt ways — even dedicating a table to him inside the restaurant. Every year on his birthday, Kim and Danny have gone there and sat at Dustin’s table to remember and celebrate him. Tonight, it was extra special to have so many friends join them — to laugh, share memories, and feel the love that continues to surround Dustin’s life and legacy.

He truly left a light in this world that will never fade. 💙

Today we had the honor of dedicating a special bench at the foot of Dustin’s grave. The Dustin Ledford Foundation purchased this bench so that the Ledford’s, friends, and loved ones will always have a place to sit, reflect, and feel close to him when they visit. ❤️

This beautiful bench was thoughtfully created by Jason Holcomb at Chattanooga Monument, and we are so grateful for his care and craftsmanship.

May it serve as a lasting place of comfort, memories, and love… a reminder that Dustin’s spirit continues to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
