We celebrated Kappa Alpha Theta's national Day of Service by participating in the Cleveland Breakthrough T1D Walk at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo!

Breakthrough T1D is the leading global Type 1 Diabetes research and advocacy organization, helping make everyday life with Type 1 Diabetes better while driving towards cures. Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the pancreas stops producing insulin, an essential hormone that helps the body turn food into energy.

We have a few active alumnae members with diabetes, so this cause is close to our hearts and important to our chapter. Our member, Julia Blanchette, PhD, RN, is a nurse scientist and diabetes care and education specialist who is on the Board of Directors for Breakthrough T1D Northeast Ohio! 💙

Please let us introduce you to our newest Theta, Simrath-Leeza Dempsey, who joined Theta tonight through our alumna initiate program. Leeza served for almost a decade as a CASA before becoming a lawyer where she has spent most of her career in the juvenile justice system. Our President, Allison, explained ‘I was sure she was a Theta when we first met, and was so surprised when she told me she wasn’t a member of any chapter. I immediately went home and looked into the initiate program because I’ve never met someone who exudes Theta more!’

Congrats, Leeza! We look forward to spending years of sisterhood with you!

The Eta Pi chapter opened their new Theta house on the north side of CWRU campus to members of the Cleveland Alumnae Chapter and alumnae sisters of the Eta Pi chapter for snacks, a tour, and networking.

We are thrilled for these sisters to have this amazing space to call home. 💗 What an incredible place for friendship, studies, and life- a new beginning of this chapter's story on CWRU campus!

Welcome Home and happy fall semester, Thetas!

Our alumnae chapter was happy to supply Gatorade, water, and cute banners to our local collegiate chapters for move-in this year. We 🩷 our JCU and CWRU sisters!

Shout out to our President, Allison! Today is her birthday- hooray! 🎉

Allison is ambitious, loyal, and loving. She is a fierce supporter of causes and people she loves, and we are thankful to have her at the helm of our exec board! Allison is a partner at Bricker Graydon Wyatt in their healthcare practice group. She spends her free time with her husband, son, and everyone's favorite pup, Romeo! 🩵 Wishing you the best day today, Allison!

Our small but mighty crew completed our first volunteer opportunity of the year at Honey from the Rock - Cleveland's First Foster Care Closet!

We started the evening by assisting a foster family choose clothing and toys for the children, who accompanied their foster parent to the closet.

Afterwards, we helped unload many clothing, shoe, toy, and personal care donations from cars and take them inside to the donation pile. Our volunteer coordinator, Taylor, told us that today's donations were the most received in a single day!

We also had time to do an inventory check of 18 month old clothing items. Honey from the Rock requires donations to be in new or gently used condition- the clothes we handled were in wonderful condition and so adorable!

We enjoyed using our time to benefit this young organization, and we plan to volunteer again!

Meet our current Events Chair, Anne Weisel! Anne recently did a social media takeover for us documenting her work trip to Dallas as a sponsor of a mental health walk. Anne has a welcoming smile and open, kind heart. She is always up for new experiences and encourages others to follow their heart. Thank you for your exec board service, Anne!
