Great Mitzvah Day doing a Souper Heroes at the Mandel JCC! Thanks to volunteers Fern Simkoff and Linda Angart for helping set up, wash the veggies and assist the kids the whole time. Families peeled and chopped like pros!
We made over 80 containers of soup veggies for our seniors in lower-income buildings!

Bridge the Protein Gap

With SNAP benefits on pause, families across our community are struggling to afford basic staples.

At the Kosher Food Pantry, we’ve already seen a surge of families coming to pick up food — and the numbers will only increase in the weeks ahead. We are deeply grateful to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and Hunger Network who help us supply food to our neighbors at this critical time.

To meet the growing need, we are now purchasing additional protein for our drive-thrus — items that are not donated by stores or the Food Bank.

You can help us bridge the gap so every family receives the nourishment they need.

Why is Rosh Hashanah two days long, even in the land of Israel? Our sages called it “a long day,” not two separate ones. It goes back to the book of Ezra, when he instructed the Jewish people in Israel to keep Rosh Hashanah for two days.

Ezra, who was the leader of the Jewish people who had returned to Israel after the Babylonian Exile, also taught the returnees that Rosh Hashanah should be a day of joy: sweet drinks, good food, and making sure neighbors could celebrate too.

It’s a side of the holiday we don’t always focus on, but it’s central to our work at the Kosher Food Pantry. True joy comes when everyone has what they need to celebrate. That’s the blessing of Rosh Hashanah. Donate today before the holiday, at kosherfp.org/donate
Thank you and Shana Tova!

Another day, another article sharing the new reality of those battling food insecurity. Major kudos to our partner Greater Cleveland Food Bank and others in the trenches, trying to get quality, healthy food into the homes and kitchens of thousands of NE Ohioans. As one of their bigger agencies, helping close to 6000 people a month, we depend on the GCFB for the vast majority of the dry and canned food, and for the nutritious, fresh produce we distribute. We purchase kosher proteins, bread and other foods with funds we raise; but if the food bank don't have enough to share, we will have to purchase more of the food we have come to rely on them for, and it's a daunting thought.

Cuts to food stamps and other federal programs mean some people go home hungry.

This new article breaks down the tough realities hitting our food-insecurity efforts right now:

• Federal benefit cuts are forcing more families to rely on us
• Sky‑high food costs & fewer donations are stretching us thin
• Demand is skyrocketing while charitable giving dips

Why it matters: Families in crisis don’t have time to wait. As government programs pull back, agencies like KFP must step in—and that requires your support now more than ever.

Will you take a minute to read and understand the stakes? Then, if you’re able, please share, donate, or spread the word.

Together, we can fill the gaps when it counts!
